Calgary East is saddened to have lost one of our members this week. Perry Cavanagh was an active part of our club for years and left the world better than how he found it. In everything he said, thought or did, Perry exemplified what it was to be a Rotarian.

Until we meet again our brother.

In Loving Memory of Perry Cavanagh - Hockey Calgary Hockey Calgary is deeply saddened by the passing of Perry Cavanagh, an extraordinary volunteer and leader whose dedication to youth hockey and sport in Calgary spanned more than three decades.

Congratulations to our honorary member Perry Cavanagh who will be honored with the Robert Clark Legacy Award at the 2026 AHHF Induction Gala. Well deserved and we love him!

Perry is a strong leader and has done so much to effect positive change in youth in Calgary. His legacy will be felt for generation, not only for his contribution to sports, but for the countless selfless acts and donations of his time to so many things.

We are honored to call Perry our brother today and every day.

Today we were part of dedicating a park for St. Rose of Lima School. An elementey school in Calgary's NE that has never had a park for the kids since elementary students started attending almost 25 years ago. Calgary East was an intricate part of pushing this over the finish line.

Seeing the pure joy on the faces of the children was magical!

We were also blessed to dedicate the park to Jim and Betty Smith, long time Rotarians, community members and loved ones of us all. Thank you to Sue and Norma Jean for cutting the ribbon and being there with us all!
