🌱 As the gardening season comes to a close, our Mindful Gardening participants returned this week to help clean up the garden and prepare it for next year. Despite the colder weather, their dedication and commitment to the space were on full display as they worked together to keep the garden thriving for seasons to come.

Participants shared how much they’ll miss this outdoor activity and the opportunity it provided to connect with nature, build community, and practice mindfulness. While we say goodbye to this season, there’s already plenty of excitement for what next year will bring! 🌿💚

A special thank you to our incredible partners, Crow Shield Lodge, Wisahkotewinowak, and Reep Green Solutions, for their continued support in helping make this program possible. We’re grateful for your partnership and the positive impact we can create together.

Our Who We Are campaign is a celebration of the staff, volunteers, partners, and community members who help create spaces of belonging, connection, and well-being every day. Together, we're building a stronger, more connected community where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

✨ This is who we are.
✨ This is why we show up.
✨ This is the impact we create together.

This week, participants will come together to prepare a comforting and nutritious meal featuring baked potatoes and soup. 🥔✨

As they cook, participants will explore simple, budget-friendly ingredients and learned practical ways to create wholesome meals that support both physical and mental well-being. From chopping and stirring to sharing stories around the table, the session was filled with learning, laughter, and connection.

After all, good food has a way of bringing people together. đź’š

🌟 Learning, Connecting, and Strengthening Community Impact!

On October 26, 2026, our Executive Director, Duaa Al-Aghar, had the pleasure of attending the Social Value & Social Return on Investment (SROI) Workshop, organized by Workplace and Immigrant Networks.
This valuable workshop provided an excellent opportunity to explore how nonprofit organizations can better measure, understand, and communicate their social impact, ensuring that our services create meaningful and lasting change in our communities.

đź’™ A heartfelt thank you to Workplace and Immigrant Networks for organizing such an informative and inspiring workshop and for your continued commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector through professional development, collaboration, and capacity building.

At Muslim Social Services of Waterloo Region (MSSWR), we believe our impact goes far beyond numbers. It is reflected in the lives we touch, the families we empower, and the stronger, more inclusive communities we build together.

We look forward to applying this valuable knowledge to strengthen our programs, demonstrate the positive impact of our services, and continue making a meaningful difference in Waterloo Region.

Each Bloom Through Art session is filled with imagination, laughter, and hands-on creativity as participants explore new crafts and artistic projects. It's been wonderful to see the excitement the children bring each week as they create, experiment, and express themselves through art.

From colorful creations to unique masterpieces, every project is an opportunity for participants to build confidence, develop new skills, and let their creativity shine. ✨

We love watching these young artists grow, connect with one another, and discover the joy that comes from creating something with their own hands.

A special thank you to the Kitchener Conestoga Rotary Club and The Resilience Project for supporting Bloom Through Art and helping make these enriching experiences possible. đź’š

The smiles say it all!

In this special testimonial, we hear from several students about their favourite parts of our Tutoring Program. From enjoying the snacks and candy🍬 to learning new things, growing their confidence, strengthening their skills, and even helping one another, it's clear that the program is making a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom.

Participants shared how much they appreciate the support of our dedicated volunteers, whose patience, encouragement, and commitment help create a welcoming environment where students can learn, ask questions, and reach their goals. đź’š

We're proud to provide a space where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to learn each week.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers for making these experiences possible, and to Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health for their support in helping us deliver this program to local youth.

How we think shapes how we learn, grow, and navigate life's challenges.

This week, our participants will explore the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, reflect on how their thoughts influence their daily lives, and learn practical ways to cultivate self-compassion and resilience.

🌱 Understanding growth mindset vs. fixed mindset
đź’ Exploring how mindset impacts our choices and experiences
đź’• Training self-compassionate thoughts and behaviours

Through meaningful discussion and reflection, participants will build tools to embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and recognize their potential for growth.

A special thank you to the Astley Family Foundation for supporting the Al-Nour Project and helping create empowering opportunities for young women to learn, connect, and thrive.
