Red Dress Day ❤️

This month, residents and staff at Cornerstone Housing for Women gathered at our Eccles and MacLaren residences to recognize Red Dress Day, honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People.

We took part in smudging, reflection, and remembrance for the women and girls whose lives have been lost. We remain committed to learning, listening, and standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities. 🪶

Asian Heritage Month

Every May, Canada celebrates Asian Heritage Month to recognize the contributions of Canadians of Asian origin. This year’s theme is “Honouring Asian Canadians: Stories that Built Canada,” and we recognize Vivienne Poy — the first Canadian of Asian descent appointed to the Senate of Canada and the woman whose motion helped establish Asian Heritage Month in Canada in 2001.

She brought communities together and helped build bridges of understanding among all Canadians of different backgrounds.
