Make your voice count and get out to a voting station before 8pm today!

Our elected municipal leaders have significant influence when it comes to how we will address the housing and homelessness crisis in our city. As someone who lives here, you get to help choose who will be sitting around Ottawa's city council table over the next four years.

Important to know: if you don't have an address, you can still vote. Go to any polling station and tell the polling worker you don't have an address. They will have you fill out a form so you can vote.

If you can, bring a piece of ID with your name and address on it. But if you have no ID, tell the polling worker and they'll have you fill out a form so you can cast your ballot.

Thank you Mark and Belong Ottawa for your advocacy on behalf of those who rely on Centre 454 as a critical resource, even more so as winter approaches.

As Ottawa heads closer to winter, advocates, service providers, and community members are raising concerns about Centre 454's January 31, 2027 relocation deadline.

Our newest story shares the perspective of Mark MacDonald, a former Centre 454 participant and housing advocate whose lived experience underscores the life-saving importance of accessible day programs.

Centre 454 has served more than 113,000 meals since June 2025 while providing access to showers, laundry, community, and critical supports. As the search for a suitable new location continues, we are calling on City leaders to extend the relocation deadline and ensure a safe, responsible transition.

Before last night’s debate on housing and homelessness, we gave Ottawa mayoral candidates one challenge: please speak to what the city CAN do to address this crisis.

Because ending homelessness is possible. There are solutions we can pursue locally and some that we already are.

In 90 minutes, you can hear from Alex Lawson, Jeff Leiper, Neil Saravanamuttoo and Mark Sutcliffe on how they would:

- Prioritize deeply affordable housing & protect what we already have
- Address food insecurity and inadequate income supports
- Respond to encampments and unsheltered homelessness with sustainable solutions
- Help people experiencing homelessness stay safe this winter
- Meaningfully engage people with lived experience
- Build a more coordinated, sustainable and effective housing & homelessness system in Ottawa
- Respond to Indigenous homelessness
- Address neighbourhood division over affordable and supportive housing developments

23 fundraising non-profits. All doing life-changing work to provide housing solutions and vital homelessness services in our community. 🏡

At the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa, we set a goal of raising $30,000 for our member organizations through the second annual Race to End Homelessness.

The finish line is technically behind us after a beautiful race day with almost 350 runners — all housing and homelessness changemakers in their own right — bringing us to 81% of our fundraising goal ($24,345 raised!). 🏃🏃‍♀️

We still have until end-of-day Tuesday Oct. 6 to make it over the top. You can donate directly to any of our fundraising member organizations (the $30,000 target is a shared total) through the 2026 Race to End Homelessness website:
