Mrs. Zgolak’s students welcomed Anishnawbe Mushkiki to learn and play traditional Indigenous games as part of our monthly inquiry question, “How are people connected to the land?” Students had fun learning four games: Run and Scream, Foot Tap, Toss Ball, and Make the Stick Jump! Thank you to Mushkiki for this engaging, hands-on learning experience that helped us make meaningful connections to culture, community, and the land! 💚🧡

It was a great third week at the rink with the Walleye. Thanks to coach Dustin and his players for delivering a fast paced, and fun practice. Students are working hard but having a great time! The on ice instruction has been excellent and skills are improving every week!

📚Mrs. Lester’s Five Mile Book Club is back!📚

We’re excited to kick off another year of reading, discussion, and discovery, with two book clubs running this term!
Today, Mrs. Lester’s junior book club met for the very first time to begin reading The Barren Grounds by David A. Robertson, a beautifully written book by a wonderful Canadian author. 🇨🇦
Our students were engaged, thoughtful, and respectful as we explored the characters we’ve been introduced to so far and shared our predictions about what might happen next. It was a fantastic start to what promises to be an exciting reading adventure!💚

Mr. Crane’s students are becoming informed and engaged citizens! They did a writing assignment and students researched the upcoming election candidates, explored their platforms, and examined how they voted on important issues. This activity encourages critical thinking, thoughtful discussions, and and understanding of the importance of being informed voters. 🗳️ ☑️
