June is Seniors Month, a time to celebrate the experiences, stories, and influence of those who came before us. Many of us carry memories of someone older who offered wisdom, care, or a perspective we’ve held onto ever since.
At Circle of Care, this is the heart of what we do. Supporting seniors means more than providing care—it means standing beside them, recognizing their wisdom and their stories, and helping ensure they remain connected, respected, and supported as they continue their journey.

Recently at our Adult Day Program, clients enjoyed a little extra pampering as they had their nails painted. The gentle, hands-on care they received is especially meaningful for those living with dementia as it offers a calming sensory experience. Moments like these also provide opportunities for conversation, connection, and trust between clients, staff, and volunteers.

Circle of Care recently participated in UJA’s The Littlest Volunteer: A Day of Giving Back. The event brought together young community members (ages 4–12), giving them the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and see firsthand how their actions can help strengthen the community around them.
Circle of Care was one of 12 community partner booths, each leading a hands-on activity connected to their organization’s work. At our booth, the young volunteers decorated cards using markers and crayons. These cards will be delivered alongside meals to seniors through our Meals on Wheels program.
The atmosphere was energizing, with children and parents actively engaged and eager to take part in the experience. Thank you to our Circle of Care team — Janet, Piers, Lana and Emma — who kept things running smoothly as more than 400 children visited the booths throughout the day.

Every day, our PSWs create meaningful moments that go far beyond care. For Lenora, it’s the small, personal connections that leave a lasting impression. In recognition of earlier this week, we’re highlighting the moments that make this work so meaningful. She shares one moment she’ll never forget:
“One moment that stayed with me was while caring for a client who was more comfortable speaking another language. Each time I helped him shave, he would smile and say ‘grazie.’ That small connection meant so much—it was a reminder that the smallest gestures can leave the biggest impact.” - Lenora, Personal Support Worker
