IRCC is introducing a new points system that places greater emphasis on Canadian work experience, high-wage occupations, and qualifying job offers.

📊 For some applicants, this could mean a significant CRS boost. For others, it may be time to reassess their Express Entry strategy.

⚠️ With invitation rounds temporarily pausing while existing profiles are recalculated, now is the time to review your information and understand how these changes could affect your chances of receiving an ITA.

Effective June 26, 2026, Ontario has replaced its previous OINP streams with a new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream, marking one of the biggest changes to the province’s immigration system.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

❌ The previous OINP streams are no longer accepting new applications.

⏸️ The Expression of Interest (EOI) system is now closed, and no further invitations will be issued under the old streams. Existing EOIs that have not received an invitation will be withdrawn as the system is updated.

✅ The new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream includes:
• TEER 0-3 occupations: Minimum CLB 6 + qualifying Ontario work experience
• TEER 4-5 occupations: Minimum CLB 4 + qualifying Ontario work experience
• Self-employed physicians registered with the CPSO

💼 A qualifying job offer from an Ontario employer is now required for all pathways under the new stream.

📅 The application portal is expected to reopen later this summer.

If you had an active EOI or were planning to apply under the previous OINP system, your immigration strategy may need to change.

⚠️ Your work permit has expired. IRCC has not yet made a decision on your extension. Your employer is asking whether you are still legally authorised to work. What do you do? 🇨🇦

This is the situation maintained status — formerly known as implied status — is designed for. If you submitted a complete extension application before your permit expired, you are generally permitted to remain in Canada and continue working or studying under the same conditions while IRCC processes your application. Your status does not end the moment your permit date passes. It continues until a decision is made.

What you can show your employer is your expired permit together with your acknowledgement of receipt from IRCC confirming your extension application was submitted. That combination confirms your authorisation to work has not lapsed.

If maintained status is lost, you have 90 days to apply for restoration of status. During those 90 days you cannot work or study. Restoration is not automatic and approval is not guaranteed.

IRCC has proposed changes that could reshape Express Entry, including a new high-skilled immigration class and the possible removal of FSW, CEC, and FST ⚠️

But here’s the key thing: this is not final yet.

And more importantly — this is not a reason to panic ❗

Immigration changes are constant and often normal. They show that the system is evolving — but they also remind you to re-evaluate your position and understand how these changes may impact you 💡

This is the time to:
• Stay informed 📌
• Review your eligibility
• Understand your options
• Take strategic steps forward

🚨 Canada has officially enacted Bill C-12, introducing major changes to its immigration and asylum system 🇨🇦

The new law brings stricter eligibility rules for asylum claims, a more structured and faster processing system, expanded data-sharing between government agencies, and new powers to manage applications and immigration documents ⚠️

These changes are designed to improve efficiency and system control — but they also introduce tighter timelines, stricter eligibility conditions, and increased oversight 📄

As Canada continues to adjust its immigration framework, this raises an important question about balance — between access, control, and system integrity.

📊 What do you think about these changes?

New Brunswick has officially revised its provincial immigration pathways effective February 3, 2026.

The province is no longer considering Expressions of Interest or issuing Invitations to Apply for multiple occupations under the NB Skilled Worker stream. This includes several roles in:

• Accommodation and food services (NAICS 72)
• Retail and wholesale trade
• Food processing and related labour occupations

In some cases, eligibility now depends not just on your NOC code, but also on your employer’s industry classification.

This update affects both in-Canada and overseas applicants under the NBPNP and Atlantic Immigration Program.

Provincial immigration programs are discretionary and aligned with labour market priorities. What was eligible in 2025 may not be eligible in 2026.

Before submitting an application, confirm:
• Your NOC is currently eligible
• Your employer’s NAICS classification
• That your pathway aligns with the latest provincial criteria 🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦
