Rehabilitation Centre for Children The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) provides services to children living with disabilities.

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) supports children and youth in Manitoba and surrounding areas in achieving their goals and participating in their communities. RCC provides services to children with physical and developmental challenges. Children from birth to eighteen (twenty-one if still in school) are eligible for services from the Centre. RCC receives its funding from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), Manitoba Health, the Department of Families, a number of Manitoba School Divisions, and the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation. Together, with children, youth, families and our partners, we promote excellence in children’s rehabilitation and developmental pediatrics through innovative clinical service, education, research and technologies. Our vision is to give children and youth who receive services from the Rehabilitation Centre for Children the opportunity to reach their full potential. And for all families and caregivers to have easy access to the knowledge, services and resources that they need to support their children in discovering this potential.

Thank you for empowering our clients and families to overcome barriers in their everyday lives so they can do more and have an enhanced quality of life. Because of you, our kiddos can build skills, adapt routines, recover from injury or illness, and take part in day-to-day activities at home, school, work, and in the community.

💚

Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder that affects brain development and can result in significant challenges with communication, coordination, and motor skills.

This month, we recognize the children and families living with Rett syndrome and extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at the Centre. Through therapy, recreation, and specialized support, they help our Rett syndrome clients develop their communication and mobility skills.

In recognition of and the Rehabilitation Centre for Children, Children's Rehabilitation Foundation, and the community came together for an afternoon in commemoration of this day as well as hosted a Blanket Exercise.

Attendees wore orange shirts to symbolize the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over
generations and spotlighting the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools.

This event was made possible thanks to funding through the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation with support from the Manitoba Orange
Shirt Day fund. Special thanks to Indigenous and Metis groups such as The Indigenous Kitchen, W***y Dogs Inc, Dave Lavallee - Lavallee Tradition, and Original Ivan Flett Memorial Dancers. Shout out to .morris.3154 for coming by and stopping at the event!
