🏅 European Week of Sport 2026 🏅

On the European Week of Sport 2026, we are grateful for our collaboration with Special Olympics Cyprus.

Through a series of sports activities and games across Cyprus, our beneficiaries had the opportunity to connect with local communities, build new friendships, and share the values of sport, inclusion, teamwork, and respect.

These meaningful moments contribute to strengthening integration and fostering a greater sense of belonging within the local society.

🎭 Culture, Inclusion and Ancient Drama 🎭

Our beneficiaries recently had the opportunity to attend an ancient drama performance and, thanks to the generous contribution of Mrs. Lia Maleni, who kindly offered 21 complimentary tickets to migrant children and accompanying staff members.

A particularly memorable part of the experience was hearing selected verses from Aeschylus in the beneficiaries' native languages, including Somali and Arabic, creating a meaningful connection between classical theatre and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Through this enriching cultural activity, participants were able to engage with Cyprus' artistic heritage, promote intercultural understanding, and take another step towards social inclusion and integration.

✨ We sincerely thank Mrs. Lia Maleni and Θεατρική Ομάδα Persona for making this unique experience possible.

The Congo River serves as a critical transport network for millions of people travelling for trade, livelihoods, family visits and essential services.

As Ebola continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, IOM is supporting a new government-led initiative to strengthen disease surveillance, early detection and response along the river.

The Congo River Initiative will support stronger health measures at key ports and help authorities detect and respond to potential cases more quickly.
