International scholars gathered in Shanghai to reflect on the legacy of the Tokyo Trial. Established in 1946, the International Military Tribunal for the Far East later delivered verdicts against Japan's Class-A war criminals in 1948, holding them legally accountable for launching wars of aggression. Eighty years later, the trial is once again drawing attention.

On June 2, Mr Zhou Yunliang, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of China in Cyprus, attended and addressed the international seminar "From Civilizational Differences to Shared Values: China-Europe Dialogue in a Multipolar World".
The event was organized by the Embassy of China in Cyprus, Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Promitheas Research Institute, as well as EUC-CASS Centre on China Studies. It was attended by over 40 representatives from China, Cyprus, multiple European countries, etc.
Chargé d'Affaires Zhou pointed out that China advocates an equal and orderly multipolar world; China and Europe are both indispensable poles in a multipolar world; we are partners, not rivals, and the choices we make together will have a profound impact on the future of the world; China stands ready to work with Cyprus and Europe to make our global village a better place.
Participants noted that the world is entering an era of heightened uncertainty, yet multipolarity is the defining trend, making constructive dialogue more important than ever; China’s proposals and initiatives provide inspirations to the international community; countries need to work together to meet common challenges.
