Die Botschaft von Malta in Berlin nahm an einem Treffen des Internationalen Wirtschaftsrats e.V. (IWR) teil, bei dem Botschafterin Marlene Bonnici über Maltas Wirtschaft und die Attraktivität des Landes als Standort für ausländische Investitionen sprach. Ihre Exzellenz hob Maltas starke wirtschaftliche Entwicklung, seine strategische Lage, das unternehmensfreundliche Umfeld sowie Investitionsmöglichkeiten in zentralen Sektoren hervor.

Die Botschaft begrüßt zudem die bevorstehende IWR-Delegationsreise nach Malta im Laufe dieses Monats, die potenzielle Investoren aus den Bereichen Finanzen, Gastgewerbe und Landwirtschaft zusammenbringen wird. The Embassy of Malta in Berlin participated in a meeting of the Internationaler Wirtschaftsrat e.V. (International Economic Council), where Ambassador Marlene Bonnici spoke about Malta’s economy and its attractiveness as a location for foreign direct investment. H.E. highlighted Malta’s strong economic performance, strategic location, business-friendly environment, and opportunities for investors across key sectors.

The Embassy also welcomes the upcoming IWR mission to Malta later this month, which will bring together potential investors from the finance, hospitality, and agricultural sectors. we look forward to further strengthening economic ties and supporting new opportunities for cooperation between MT and DE.

During the meeting, Ambassador Bonnici provided an overview of the current political, economic and social developments in Germany, as well as insights into key issues shaping the international landscape. The exchange also served to reaffirm Malta’s active engagement on global matters.

Anfang dieser Woche nahm Botschafterin Bonnici an einer vom IWR (Internationalen Wirtschaftsrat e.V) organisierten Frühstücksveranstaltung im Bundestag teil. Im Mittelpunkt standen die Wirtschaft und das deutsche Gesundheitssystem. Botschafterin Bonnici war eingeladen worden, einen Überblick über das Gesundheitssystem in Malta zu geben.

Earlier this week Ambassador Bonnici participated in a breakfast event held at the Bundestag, organised by the IWR (international economic advisory group) . The theme centred on the economy and the health system in Germany. Ambassador Bonnici was invited to give an overview of the health system in Malta.

Gestern nahm die maltesische Botschaft in Berlin an einer gemeinsam mit dem BVMW (Bundesverband mittelständischer Unternehmen) organisierten Wirtschaftsveranstaltung teil, bei der einige deutsche Unternehmen zusammenkamen, um Investitionsmöglichkeiten in Malta zu ergründen.

Während der Veranstaltung hob die maltesische Botschafterin in Deutschland, I. E. Marlene Bonnici, die starke und langjährige Partnerschaft Maltas mit Deutschland hervor, die in diesem Jahr ihr 61-jähriges Bestehen feiert. Im Mittelpunkt der Diskussion standen Maltas wichtigste Wirtschaftsbranchen, darunter fortschrittliche Fertigung, digitale Innovation, Finanzdienstleistungen, Flugzeugwartung, maritime Dienstleistungen und Tourismus, sowie das umfassende Ökosystem, das Malta zu einem attraktiven Standort für Investitionen, Talente und Unternehmensgründung macht.

Die maltesische Botschaft erläuterte, welche Unterstützung wir Unternehmen bieten können, die an Möglichkeiten in Malta interessiert sind, indem wir sie mit den relevanten Akteuren zusammenbringen.

Botschafterin Bonnici dankte dem BVMW und Mazars für die Organisation dieser Plattform für Dialog und Zusammenarbeit.

Yesterday the Embassy of Malta in Berlin participated in a business event organised in conjunction with BVMW (the German Association for Small and Medium sized enterprises) bringing together a number of German businesses to explore opportunities for investment in Malta.

During the event, the Ambassador of Malta for Germany, H.E. Marlene Bonnici highlighted Malta’s strong and longstanding partnership with Germany, which this year marks 61 years of diplomatic relations. The discussion focused on Malta’s key sectors, including advanced manufacturing, digital innovation, financial services, aviation maintenance, maritime services, and tourism, as well as the comprehensive ecosystem that makes Malta an attractive destination for investment, talent, and entrepreneurship.

The Embassy of Malta outlined on the support we can provide to companies interested in exploring opportunities in Malta by connecting them with the relevant stakeholders.

Ambassador Bonnici thanked BVMW and Mazars for organising this platform for dialogue and cooperation.

Die Malta Tourism Authority veranstaltete am Rande der ITB Berlin ein Networking-Event, bei dem internationale Partnerinnen und Partner, sowie Akteure der Tourismusbranche zusammenkamen, die direkt und indirekt zur dynamischen Tourismusindustrie Maltas beitragen.

In ihrer Ansprache unterstrich die maltesische Botschafterin in Deutschland, I. E. Marlene Bonnici, die starke und langjährige Partnerschaft zwischen Malta und Deutschland – eine Beziehung, die auf gemeinsamen europäischen Werten, Vertrauen und einer stetig wachsenden wirtschaftlichen und handelspolitischen Zusammenarbeit basiert. Heute nehmen die Handelsströme zwischen den beiden Ländern weiter zu.

Die Veranstaltung betonte auch den anhaltenden Erfolg Maltas als Tourismusziel, das im Jahr 2025 rund 4 Millionen Besucher begrüßen wird. Botschafterin Bonnici nannte mehrere Gründe, warum Malta ein attraktives Reiseziel bleibt, darunter über 300 Sonnentage, seine UNESCO-Welterbestätten und der einzigartige mediterrane Charme. Sie verwies auch auf Malta Vision 2050, einen nationalen Aktionsplan, der darauf abzielt, den einzigartigen Charakter Maltas zu bewahren und gleichzeitig eine nachhaltige, widerstandsfähige und wettbewerbsfähige Entwicklung zu fördern.

Botschafterin Bonnici dankte den Vertreterinnen und Vertretern der Malta Tourism Authority, Heritage Malta, Visit Gozo und der Gozo Tourism Association, des Malta International Airports und allen Beteiligten für ihre Teilnahme an der ITB und ihr kontinuierliches Engagement für die Förderung und Bewerbung der maltesischen Inseln.

Die Botschaft von Malta wird sich weiterhin für den Tourismus einsetzen, maltesische Akteure unterstützen und Maltas diplomatisches, wirtschaftliches und kulturelles Engagement in Deutschland stärken.

The Malta Tourism Authority hosted a networking event on the margins of ITB Berlin, bringing together international partners and tourism industry stakeholders who contribute, both directly and indirectly to Malta’s vibrant tourism industry.

During her address, Ambassador of Malta to Germany, H.E. Marlene Bonnici, underscored the strong and longstanding partnership between Malta and Germany - a relationship anchored in shared European values, trust, and steadily growing economic and trade cooperation. Today, trade flows between the two countries continue to expand.

The event also highlighted Malta’s continued success as a tourism destination, welcoming around 4 million visitors in 2025. Ambassador Bonnici outlined several reasons why Malta remains an attractive destination, including over 300 days of sunshine, its UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the unique Mediterranean charm. She also referred to Malta Vision 2050, a national framework aimed at preserving Malta’s unique character while guiding sustainable, resilient and competitive development.

Ambassador Bonnici thanked the representatives of the Malta Tourism Authority, Heritage Malta, Visit Gozo and the Gozo Tourism Association, the Malta International Airport and all stakeholders for their participation at the ITB and their ongoing commitment to promoting the Maltese Islands.

The Embassy of Malta will continue to champion tourism, support Maltese stakeholders, and strengthen Malta’s diplomatic, economic, and cultural engagement in Germany.

The Ambassador of Malta to Germany, H.E. Marlene Bonnici visited the Malta Tourism Authority stand at the ITB Berlin, where she met with the MTA delegation, representatives of Heritage Malta and Maltese companies participating in this year’s fair to promote Malta as a destination to the international tourism market.

ITB Berlin continues to be an important platform for Maltese tourism stakeholders to engage with partners, strengthen networks, and attract more visitors to the Maltese Islands.

At the stand, Heritage Malta, through the Taste History initiative, offered a selection of traditional Maltese dishes, giving guests and industry partners the opportunity to experience the flavours and culinary heritage.

The Embassy is proud to work alongside Maltese tourism stakeholders in promoting the Maltese Islands and attract visitors from around the world.
