'Public Swimming Pool Großfeldsiedlung'
by illiz architektur + Dipl. Ing. Lea Soltau + Dipl. Ing. Bernhard Winkelmayer

→ This architectural tour highlighted the careful renovation and extension of a swimming complex originally built in the 1980s. A pair of bridges links the new 25-meter lap pool hall with the pre-existing structure, creating a landscaped connection between the two volumes. The design team presented the project’s defining feature: a planted steel exoskeleton that encircles the building. Inside, they led us through the six-meter-tall timber hall with expansive full-height glazing, and introduced the upgraded original building, where a lifted roofline enhances both spatial quality and natural light.
