STRENGTHENING RADIOLOGY SERVICES THROUGH ESSENTIAL ELECTRICAL UPGRADE.
The Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji is happy to see the continued progress of electrical upgrade works at identified health facilities and Subdivisional Hospitals across the Central and Western Divisions to support sustainable radiology diagnostic services.
Completed sites:
✅ Nausori Hospital
✅ Tavua Hospital
✅ Keiyasi Health Centre
✅ Rakiraki Hospital (currently operational, with further improvements planned)
In Progress:
🔹 Sigatoka Hospital – installation commenced today
🔹 Lami Health Centre – works commenced this morning as pictured.
The Central Division upgrades will continue, followed by the Northern and Eastern Division respectively.
Reliable and appropriate power supply is critical for the safe and effective operation of modern radiology equipment. These investments will strengthen diagnostic capacity, improve service reliability, and ensure more accessible and quality healthcare for Fijians.
Pleased with the progress and thankful to all teams involved in advancing these important infrastructure upgrades.

RESERVE BANK OF FIJI 2024 INSURANCE ANNUAL REPORT
Today, the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence received submissions from the Reserve Bank of Fiji on its 2024 Insurance Annual Report.
During the discussions, I highlighted three key areas of concern:
✅ How can insurance coverage be expanded to reach more rural communities, farmers, informal workers, and vulnerable households?
✅ How effective are parametric insurance products in providing meaningful financial protection and rapid recovery support for climate-vulnerable communities?
✅ With strong industry profits and solvency levels, how can consumers benefit through more affordable premiums, improved customer service, and faster claims processing?
These are important issues as we continue to strengthen financial resilience, consumer protection, and climate preparedness for all Fijians.

Today, the Parliament Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence received submissions from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Fiji Immigration Department on their 2019–2023 Annual Reports.
One of my key questions focused on the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and Fiji’s readiness for future health emergencies. Discussions highlighted the importance of a whole-of-government response, emergency funding preparedness, strong partnerships, and building a more resilient nation.
