What a night to remember at the Glen Tanar Ballroom ✨
Last week we were delighted to host a truly special fundraising evening, welcoming back the wonderfully witty Fingask Follies and their latest production, The Jest is History. Living up to their sparkling reputation, the performance delivered a lively romp through the ages — full of clever satire, playful nods to historical figures, and toe-tapping musical numbers that had the whole room smiling.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our guests, sponsors, and local suppliers (who kindly donated such fantastic raffle prizes), we were thrilled to raise just under £2,000.00 in total for -Start and — two very worthy charities close to our hearts. 💛
To everyone who joined us and to our wonderful local businesses (tagged) who supported the evening — thank you. Your contributions will make such a meaningful difference.
A touch of history, a dash of humour, and a ballroom full of goodwill — just the way we like it.

Last Tuesday, we welcomed S2s from Aboyne Academy for their annual Tourism and Hospitality Day.
📸 As part of the Ranger Services workshop, pupils were asked to take photos during their tourism-themed nature walk. There were so many incredible shots from the group, but these were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!
Scroll to see some close contenders.
🍽️ Alongside the nature walk, we were delighted to have Hudson's Catering with us, teaching pupils how to professionally set a table for dinner service. The pupils then took part in a competition to see which team could create the best table setting, complete with decorations of their choosing. We saw some beautifully decorated tables!
🏡 They also prepared a holiday cottage for arriving guests, identifying all the mistakes that had been laid out for them to spot - a great way to build practical hospitality skills and understand guest expectations.
🧭 The final workshop was a scavenger hunt, where the groups had to find different locations across the estate using clues, and answer a set of questions at each stop, covering topics they had explored throughout the day.
It was a fantastic day filled with learning, teamwork, and creativity for the youngsters, and we hope it gave them valuable insight into the wide range of skills and knowledge required in tourism and hospitality.
Thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success!
