Its and wow we cant tell you often enough how grateful we are at Alford Valley Community Railway for our precious volunteers. They have spanned from age 12 (with parent or guardian) to 70+ (vague to protect the shy and retired). As a volunteer and community-led organisation we quite literally could not run without volunteers - no drivers, guards, ticket office, maintenance crew, admin people, craft people - we couldn't do it.
If you'd like to volunteer with us please email [email protected] for information and look out for our volunteers open day coming soon.

Observations from the micro industry of can crushing!
Please only donate CLEAN cans, unclean cans smell awful, are very sticky, attract wasps.
Please do not donate Guinness cans nor food cans - clean or otherwise - as we cannot crush them.
Remember remember remember

Itโs worth sharing again
with our supporters and followers that AVCR are not a profit making organisation in the usual sense, we are a charity and also a community benefit society.
Community benefit comes in many forms ๐
Resurrecting and running a very reasonably priced village attraction welcoming the public from far and wide to our wee village.
Creating a space for volunteers of all ages and abilities to come together and share their knowledge and skills in the support of a great cause.
Supporting our local community and its various groups where and when we can with vouchers, partnerships, relationships, reasonably priced meeting space โฆ the list goes on!
All of this hard work comes down to our trustees (who are also volunteers) and our more general volunteers.
We need you, we canโt do what we do without you - if youโd like to be part of AVCR please email [email protected] for more information ๐ we can guarantee you wonโt regret it!
