We have plenty of sheltered areas for when it’s wet and we put up extra tarps. We run throughout the whole year and only cancel sessions in extreme weather conditions ( ie: constant gale force 8), we’ll always put a post on our page if we need to cancel.

What a spooktacular Halloween session we’ve had today at Orchard Forest School! From tiny pumpkins arriving strapped to their mummies, all the way through to much larger wizards and ghouls who use to attend our sessions strapped to their mummies!🎃 Why do our sessions seem to work and be so special ( your words not ours!), we think multi generations coming together in nature is a massive part of this! No pressure, no judgement, just kindness, fun and plenty of space to play, share and build your own adventures! 🍂
Theres been too much joy and happiness to mention everything today! So we’ll leave you to see if you can spot your pumpkins, ghouls, witches and explorers in all these photos! Yes there’s lots! But how can you choose when they all look this good! 📷 😉🎃👻🧙🏻‍♀️
A huge thank you to our wonderful team of volunteers (Sue, Brooke and Eva) who helped ensure today ran smoothly and everyone enjoyed their adventure with us! 🎃

Please share to spread the word. 🎃

Here are our top tips for using your old pumpkins:
✅ Make a soup, stew or nourishing hair mask - plenty of recipes online
✅ Add to your compost heap
✅ Dispose of them in the appropriate waste bin

Remember, pumpkins can harm or even kill our native wildlife. Please be responsible and don't leave them in wild spaces to rot.⚠️

What a lovely Halloween session we’ve had today at Orchard Forest School with our friends and colleagues from Torbay Young Carers, and their families. Thank you to ‘Babbacombe and St Marychurch Lions Club’ for their pumpkin donation to help ensure everyone had a pumpkin to carve and take home. And just look at all these fantastic creations! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

We love how our sessions at Orchard Forest School often get extended back into our explorers own homes! Whether it be families taking ideas from our sessions and creating similar resources in their own gardens or whether they take home foraged goodies to replicate our recipes to share with their own families. 🍏
This week one of our explorers took it to a new level, by taking her little spider from her Halloween session, home with her. He slept all night right above her head, then the following day she’d created a web with apples just like the ones from our orchard!🍏
We wonder how many other explorers resisted eating their (jellied) spider, to extend their imagination? 💭 🕷️
Isn’t this what childhood and making memories together is all about? 💚🥹

*ALL SORTED!
Thank you to Mandy and Dave!👍🏼😉🙏

We are still looking for 2-3 kitchen base units with shelving and doors for inside our shed at Orchard Forest School, if anyone knows of some needing a new home! ♻️ We have a worktop, just no base units! 🤣🙏
Maybe someone you know is having a new kitchen for Christmas?😉

What a special Halloween session we’ve had today with our over 8s kids club at Orchard Forest School🎃
We started with everyone helping to get the fire lit so the water could go on, and the mid morning crumpets!🔥
Then it was off to the carpark to collect up all the fallen sticks after the storms. Six wheelbarrow loads full to be precise! 💪🏼
Of course they needed chopping up, so after a quick campfire morning snack out came the tools! 🪚 Later on after a campfire lunch out came a range of different tools, to help with the pumpkin creations! And boy these guys know how to create! 🎃🔪There were mezzanine floors, stair cases, ladders, scary faces, forests and so much more!
Thank you to everyone who attended today’s session, thank you to Morrisons for supporting our sessions with pumpkins, to our volunteer Sue for the spooky cakes, and to our very creative volunteer Eva who spent the day barrowing, chopping, sawing and creating pumpkin alterations! 🎃🙏 No need for the gym tonight Eva! 😉

What have you been up to on this wet Monday? Us? Well we’ve had a spooktacular time at Orchard Forest School!
From pumpkins, to potions, from bats to spiders, from palm drills to conker clamps, it’s been an incredible first day of our Halloween half term sessions! 🕷️ A little damp? Yes! But with all the fun going on a little damp weather between friends really doesn’t matter, and it certainly doesn’t stop our fun!
Thank you for everyone who attended today, and don’t forget to clear away any mouldy pumpkins once Halloween is over, to prevent hedgehogs getting hold of them!
