Cambridge Cyrenians Providing housing and specialist support services for people experiencing homelessness in Cambridge for over 55 years. Changing lives...for good. 🏡🩵

Cambridge Cyrenians is a local charity working to prevent and relieve homelessness in Cambridge. For over 55 years, we have provided safe, stable homes and specialist support to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. We believe that everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, respected and supported. That’s why we focus on providing real homes - not hostels - alongside practical and emotional support that helps people rebuild their lives. https://cambridgecyrenians.org.uk/

Happy Halloween! 🎃🧛🦇

Earlier this week, our Art Collab, a creative group for people we support, made ghost-shaped tea light holders and got the pencils out for some spooky art. And now, in one of our houses, residents have carved pumpkins together!

Activities like these bring people together and give everyone something to look forward to. If you would like to help us keep them going, find out how to support our work by visiting our website.

On Friday, some of our residents spent the day at the Cambridge Museum of Technology, exploring the history of the city’s industry and innovation.

Our group found it a very interesting place, and it was a great way to spend a couple of hours.

Thank you to the museum team for the warm welcome!

Chocks away! 🛩️

A group of our residents spent a day at Imperial War Museum Duxford with some of our team, and it was brilliant! There were aircraft and vehicles to explore, plenty of history to read up on, and lunch made a welcome pit stop.

Every month, our team organises resident trips. They are a chance to meet new people, try new things and enjoy somewhere different, and they make a real difference to wellbeing.

Where should we go next? Tell us about your recommendations in the comments. 👇

Twice a week, people who have experienced homelessness come to our community allotment to grow, spend time in nature and simply be somewhere calm.

You can help keep it going. We are part of the Co-op Local Community Fund, so all you have to do to help us out is to download the Co-op App, become a member and choose our cause. That way, we can receive a share of the £3.5m that Co-op is kindly donating to chosen charities like ours.

Thank you to Co-op for the opportunity, and to everyone who picks us.

One of our residents has really transformed the garden at their home, and we love the result. The plants are looking beautiful in this space, and we’re especially impressed with how tall the sunflowers have grown! 🌻

Do you have any large garden pots and planters, seeds, bulbs or plants going spare? 🪴

One of our residents has been transforming the front of his home, and he has made a cracking job of it so far. Now he needs just a few more bits so that he can keep going.

If you would like to help, please comment below, message us on social media, or email [email protected] and we will arrange this with you.

Thank you! 🩵

Today is World Homeless Day, and there's two things worth remembering:

1. Homelessness does not define a person.
2. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

At Cambridge Cyrenians, a supported home is where our work starts, not where it ends. Through our Wellbeing and Independence Services, people get help with mental health, employment, education, and the every day things that make life feel like life again, including time at our therapeutic allotment and exploring hobbies and interests. Our Older Homeless Service helps people keep their tenancies or find more suitable housing, helping to avoid a return to homelessness.

None of this happens without our supporters, and there are lots of ways to be part of it. Here's a few:

🩵 Give a donation to help residents take their next steps.
🩵 Fundraise or take on a challenge for us.
🩵 Partner with us through your workplace.
🩵 Share our posts and tell a friend.

We're sending a huge thank you to our supporters. With your help, we've been able to help change lives for over 55 years. Thank you for standing with us!
