Labour don’t want you to share this.

Shocking that the Labour Party is going to limp on running Monmouthshire, propped up by the Green Party in spite of their antisemitic motion.

Next May, voters will have a chance to get Labour out and elect a new Conservative team.

Labour council leader faced call to 'terminate' Green Party power share of anti-Zionism motion.

Very awkward!

Well, this is awkward…

In August, Labour MP Catherine Fookes wrote to the Prime Minister demanding that the Jackdaw gas field be blocked.

Now her own Labour Government has correctly but belatedly given it the green light.

It is ludicrous for the UK to be importing oil and gas when there are large reserves sitting under the North Sea.

So, Catherine, a simple question:

Do you agree with your Labour Government that Jackdaw should go ahead, to create jobs and improve energy security? Or do you still think it should be blocked?

Conservatives become the largest party in Monmouthshire

The Local Conservatives have become the largest party on Monmouthshire County Council, as another Labour councillor has quit the beleaguered Labour Group.

This morning, one Labour councillor announced their decision to join Plaid Cymru, along with an Independent councillor, who had left Labour back in May, having made accusations of bullying within the Labour Group.

Three Labour councillors have now quit the party since its group leader was elected Leader of the Council by just one vote in May. The Conservatives have 19 seats, with Labour on 18, Independents on 6, Plaid Cymru 2 and 1 Green.

Cllr Richard John, Leader of the Conservative Group, said, “Councillors continue to desert the local Labour Party, which has been beset by infighting and allegations of bullying.

“Monmouthshire County Council has been in decline under Labour. Council tax has gone up by 35% in just four years, while complaints about potholes have quadrupled, schools have been plunged into deficits totalling £9million and major infrastructure projects cancelled.

“Monmouthshire needs new Conservative leadership to grow the economy, keep taxes down, invest in frontline services and fix our roads. Only the local Conservatives can get Labour out and stop Reform.”

Monmouthshire Labour must cut ties with Green Party after antisemitic motion

Monmouthshire Conservatives are calling on the Leader of the Council to terminate the Labour Party’s coalition with the Green Party after an antisemitic motion was passed at the Green conference.

Conservative Leader Cllr Richard John has written to the Labour Leader urging her to end their deal with the Greens.

‼️ LOCAL PRIORITIES - WHAT MATTERS TO ST KINGSMARK, CHEPSTOW RESIDENTS? ‼️

Since being elected as your county councillor, I have tried to work hard, speak my mind and put residents’ views and concerns first.

Each term, I hand-deliver my Residents’ Survey to all homes within the ward of St Kingsmark (and to subsequent new residents once they have settled into their home since 2022) to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to share their views with me as I carry out my role as county councillor.

This is in order to remain focussed on the issues and concerns that matter to you and your family in the coming years.

In the meantime, you can still get hold of me in the usual way or please stop me for a chat if you have any local concerns you want to share.

🔹 But what should I focus on going forward?
🔹 Am I getting the priorities right?
🔹 What have I missed?
🔹 What matters to you and your family?

This is your polite reminder to keep me focussed on your priorities and concerns.

✅ Over the next several weeks, I will be knocking on every door in the ward, out delivering my 'Local Priorities Survey' to residents.

This will take some time. Alternatively, you can complete the online version of my ‘Special Residents’ Survey on Local Priorities' which only takes a few minutes.

https://www.monmouthshireconservatives.com/campaigns/christopher-edwards-survey-st-kingsmark-residents

✅ Please note that ANY RESIDENT OF CHEPSTOW can complete the online version of the survey.

Thank you again for taking the time to give me your views. They really will have an influence on what I focus on over the coming years.

Best wishes,

Christopher

C.Cllr. Christopher Edwards
Member for St Kingsmark ward, Chepstow

Well done to Tony Kear - County Councillor Llanbadoc and Usk Ward and the Monmouthshire Conservative Group who forced the County Council into a six-month long review into better and more sustainable ways of repairing potholes.

That review has now recommended additional investment in staffing and equipment to improve the way the council repairs potholes and undertakes general road repairs.

Only Kemi Badenoch has the team and the plan to get our economy moving again.

19/09/2026

We were deeply honoured to welcome Lord Howard of Lympne (Michael Howard), former Leader of the Conservative Party, to Usk last night.

Lord Howard made the case for why Kemi Badenoch is best placed to be our next Prime Minister. He also spoke of his warmth for Wales and his happy childhood spent in Llanelli.

Reform is embroiled in scandal. Labour is focused on taxing working families. Only the Conservatives will lower the welfare bill and create better jobs.
