| Two men who sped through Chesterfield on electric motorbikes, mounting pavements and entering live lanes of traffic, have been reported for dangerous driving.

The men, both aged 19, were spotted driving dangerously in the Chatsworth Road area by an off-duty police officer on 16 October.

They were seen to speed onto West Bars roundabout, where they failed to give way to other road users.

The men then rode across three live lanes of traffic, onto the central grassed area of the roundabout before again driving into the three lanes of traffic.

They continued along Wheatbridge Road and through a pedestrian crossing as the lights changed to red, before mounting the pavement close to Lidl and eventually exiting into an address on Chatsworth Road.

The pair were located inside an address with the bikes and were voluntary interviewed by officers and had their motorbikes seized.

The men were reported to court for dangerous driving, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.

Inspector Josh Carter, who leads local policing in Chesterfield, said:

“This result forms part of our ongoing work to tackle nuisance motorbike and e-bike use in Chesterfield.

“We recognise the risks to members of the public that this type of anti-social behaviour poses and have a number of measures in place to clamp down unauthorised or dangerous use of vehicles in the area.

“Chatsworth Road falls within the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) – which bans nuisance vehicle use of any kind.

“Our officers regularly patrol the town centre and public spaces to ensure these rules are enforced through the issuing of fines, prosecutions and words of advice.

“I would like to encourage members of the public to continue reporting incidents to us as this helps us to build up a picture of where we need to focus resources, increase patrols and plan proactive operations.

“Officers are tackling nuisance and illegal vehicle use in the town as a priority in conjunction with the council and other partner agencies through the enforcement of the PSPO and other initiatives such as the Chesterfield Town Centre Partnership.

“We remain determined to ensure people in Chesterfield can enjoy a good quality of life and visit the town’s public parks and spaces in peace.”

| Drug dealer sentenced for peddling he**in and crack co***ne in North East Derbyshire

A drug dealer who distributed he**in and crack co***ne across North East Derbyshire has been sentenced.

Officers launched Operation Singer following the discovery of a well-established county line in which he**in and crack co***ne was being dealt between Sheffield, Chesterfield and the wider North East Derbyshire area.

Our Criminal Exploitation Team, working with the local Safer Neighbourhood officers, found that the illegal Class A drugs were being dealt via the ‘CC Line’, which was being controlled by a man called Corinthian Brown who goes by the alias ‘CC’.

We also established that Brown had taken over the home of a vulnerable woman to be used as a base for his drug dealing - a criminal practice known as cuckooing.

But he was driven out of the property in 2024 thanks to intervention from neighbourhood officers as part of Op Trapped – our dedicated operation aimed at safeguarding victims from cuckooing.

However, he continued his criminality and numerous mobile phones were identified as being used for dealing Class A drugs that were linked to Brown.

Analysis of mobile phone data revealed that he regularly sent out mass marketing messages advertising the sale of he**in and crack co***ne to potential users.

He was arrested for the offences but gave a no comment interview to officers.

Brown was charged with being concerned in the supply of he**in and crack co***ne between February 1 and July 22, and cannabis possession on 21 July.

The 37-year-old, of Rothay Road, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to the drug offending charges and was given a prison sentence for two-and-a-half years, suspended for two-and-a-half years, during a hearing at Derby Crown Court on Friday 9 October.

Detective Sergeant Ross O’Brien, of the Criminal Exploitation Team, said: “Cuckooing is an appalling crime that takes away the liberty of the person whilst they are living in their own home – a place where they should feel the safest.

“But I hope this case reassures other victims out there that we will act on information relating to this kind of offending and will drive criminals out of your home.

“If you are in fear of repercussions, information can be passed to us anonymously and discreetly, and officers will be here to safeguard and support you through every step of the investigation.

“Brown continued his criminality even after he had been driven out of his victims’ home by our officers and was determined to deal Class A drugs, bringing misery to communities in the north east of the county.

“I would like to thank the investigation team for their dedication and victims for their bravery in seeing Brown convicted of these very serious offences.”
