Our alpaca herd had their second dose of the blue tongue vaccine, thanks to a committee member of Trawden Agricultural Show, and we hope they’ll be safe against this deadly virus which has swept up the country. As Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) wasn’t ready to help farmers protect their animals, leading to a desperate scramble for supplies from France, this is causing farmers extra risk and extra expense. As if farming (NFU - National Farmers' Union) wasn’t difficult enough these days?!?

Last week, I had a meeting with Sgt Bottomley and PC Lunney of Colne and West Craven Police at the new Pendle Police Station to discuss the use of the money I bid for from Colne Area to combat speeding and anti-social driving.

Running through the model adopted in West Yorkshire and the data we gather from our Speed Indicator Devices (SPIDs) to target late nights and other peak speeding times is the best way to make this work.

The project has now been escalated and I’ve got a meeting with the Chief Inspector coming up shortly…watch this space! 💪📸🚗🚙🚓🚨👮‍♂️👮

Saturday lunchtime saw Cllr Sarah Cockburn-Price and me visit the Come To Colne/Colne BID 70s Festival with Colne Artisan Market by Independent Street and you can see the fun we had on a space hopper (🫣), soaking up the 70s street vibe.

In the Colne Market Hall, we met up with the go-ahead Manager, Elaine, and craft & knitting 🧵🧶 entrepreneur Kathryn Pana, of KP Krafts, and enjoyed a tasty pizza from 🍕& b**r from The Trig point 🍺 😋.

Then finished my favourite pursuit of shopping! 🛍️ Lots of tasty samosas etc from some sausages (Hogans Butchers) and pies 🥟 🥧(Cheshire Pie Co. Ltd) and then some banana bread 🍌 and other sweet treats 🍰 from two lovely young ladies who were excited and delighted to hear we were Councillors - a better response than we normally get(!), thanks Organic Bakes by S

Finally, a chat with Pendle Council’s Leanne about all she’s doing to help the elderly with IT/digital access - with sessions at Colne Library she’s running on 14th November.

Drove across the hills to make it to the Trawden Arms Community Pub Music & B**r Festival - wouldn’t miss it for the world and wasn’t disappointed by the music (shout out to Filthy Critters, with their Nelly the Elephant singalong & The Encores), the b**r and the company 🎤🎸🍻

Welcome to my shiny, new councillor page!

I’ve served on both Colne Town Council and Pendle Council for years and thought now was a good time to share all the projects I am involved in.

I co-founded Colne Youth Action Group with Cllr Sarah Cockburn-Price and am known for my love of numbers. 🤓

Be prepared for some alarming posts about Pendle Council, which is now potentially not being abolished and yet has been burning 🔥 through its Reserves at an alarming rate! 😬
