Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen has made a strong start to the year against her plans to secure better justice for victims and deliver lasting improvements to communities.

We achieved...
📞Improved public access to policing with a 27% reduction in call wait times and 21% fewer abandoned calls.
🚗Enhanced road safety, with Fatal Four offences (drink/drug driving, no seatbelts, mobile phone use and speeding) falling by 15%
🧪Strengthened criminal justice outcomes through record Drug Testing on Arrest performance . Over 70% of eligible individuals screened through DTOA in June – the highest level since the programme began.
🚨3,188 hours spent in priority hotspot areas targeting crime, ASB and serious violence.
👮Eleven new PCSOs joined the team.

At Labour Party Conference, Andy Burnham spoke about something that matters to families in every community. The security of knowing that you and the people you love will be looked after.

A National Care Service, built on the principles of our NHS, with free personal care for older people, dignity in later life and proper recognition for those who work in care.

More council homes, stronger action against poor housing, greater public control over water and energy, and a real commitment to giving young people opportunities through education, apprenticeships and employment.

Because social security is about more than benefits. It’s about having a decent home, being able to afford the essentials, knowing support is there when you need it and feeling confident about your family’s future.

These are the everyday things that matter to people across Blaydon, Consett and our surrounding communities.

A country that looks after its people. A country that invests in its future. A country where everyone has the chance to get on.

That’s the vision Andy Burnham set out at Labour Conference. That’s what he means by giving Britain hope again.

There is still time to add your name to the petition on Maya’s Law.

It is crucial that we continue this discussion to bring about the change needed to help protect children from abuse.

I want to thank Gemma and Rachael for their efforts on this campaign.

Your support will help showcasing the strength of feeling in our communities on this issue.
