Welcome to the official RSPCA Oak & Furrows page. We are part of RSPCA North Wiltshire and Newbury District Branch, an independent and self funded branch of the RSPCA. The wildlife rescue centre is open 365 days a year to rehabilitate orphaned, injured or sick British wildlife, with the aim to re-release fit and healthy animals back into the wild. Our work is mostly funded by 10 RPSCA North Wiltshire and Newbury District Branch charity shops located across the Wiltshire and Newbury District. These shops, and donations from our wonderful supporters, raise funds to keep the centre operating. If you want to volunteer, raise some money or even do a food collection, contact us on [email protected] for advice on how to get involved!

There's something lovely about the build-up to Halloween, the glow of a carved pumpkin on the doorstep and kids trick or treating with their friends. 🎃

Every autumn, our team see animals that have been caught up in decorations that were only ever meant to be a bit of fun - the good news is that a few thoughtful choices can make all the difference!

Lovely supporters, it happened again. This time it's the worlds largest collection of DVD's, a shoe, a random coat and a suspiciously folded rug... It's not a competition of who can leave the most stuff outside our shops. If it were, the prize would be the Cone of Shame - specifically, the uncomfortable plastic variety. There are clear no fly-tipping signs, which we've artistically highlighted for your viewing pleasure.

All this fly-tipping nonsense has got us thinking though... Would our followers be interested in seeing the silly things we get donated on a weekly basis? We could even award the silliest item our highly coveted Cone of Shame Award 🏆

Let us know what you think in the comments!

And to everyone who brings their lovely donations into our shops during opening hours, thank you. We really do appreciate your continued support. ❤️

Autumn is in the air! 🍂

While we're reaching for scarves and making the most of crisp mornings, the animals we care for are adjusting to a very different rhythm.

🦔 Hedgehogs are racing against the clock.
With hibernation on the horizon, hedgehogs spend these weeks foraging and scouting out somewhere to sleep. A dish of fresh water left out overnight or an undisturbed pile of logs or leaves can make all the difference.

🐦‍⬛ Birds are heading south.
Some species will cover thousands of miles before they reach warmer ground, navigating by instinct alone. Watching them gather and depart is a brilliant reminder of just how much resilience exists in the smallest of creatures.

🌙 The night shift gets busier.
Darker evenings bring a different cast of characters out to play. Tawny owls grow noticeably chattier after dusk, and bats are still making the most of milder nights before the cold really sets in.

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to the extremely generous person who dropped off a £1,000 cheque to our Marlborough shop! ❤️

We were so pleased to receive such a kind donation, which will help us continue our work supporting animals in need across North Wiltshire and West Berkshire.

All donations, no matter how big or small, make a difference to the animals in our care. Whether it’s a one-off donation, a bag of items for our shops, or a purchase from our shelves, every little bit helps us provide the care and support animals need.

Thank you to everyone who supports our charity and helps us make a difference. We really couldn’t do it without you! 🐾 If you'd like to support us, please consider making a donation by clicking the link below, thank you!

The politest of polite requests. Please, please do not leave your donations outside our charity shops overnight when the shops are closed.

Whilst we believe the intentions were good, this half sofa/ quarter sofa/ attempt at a chaise lounge was left outside our Chippenham shop overnight. It rained last night and the item is soaking wet, with hopefully just rainwater... We cannot sell it. We have to pay to dispose of it. Our normally happy warehouse team are miffed.

We cannot sell items that are left outside for the safety of our staff, volunteers and customers. We are really grateful that people want to support us by donating their furniture, clothing and homeware but please, don't be a silly sausage, bring your donations in when we're open or contact us first.

This could be one of the luckiest tawny owls ever! Found lying flat in the middle of the A420, this tawny owl had an incredibly lucky near miss with a lorry and probably several other vehicles... We are so grateful that a kind member of the public found the tawny owl when they did, otherwise this owl's story could have been completely different!

Initially the owl was taken to a local vet who provided care before transferring them over to us for rehabilitation. Somehow this tawny owl was completely unscathed by the whole ordeal, only requiring a few days rest before being ready for release back to the wild!

Presenting the utterly gorgeous Daffy!

Daffy is less than a year old and is hoping her new family is out there, as she's been really patient but no-one has applied for her.

Daffy came into our care pregnant... A kitten sadly already pregnant before she's had the chance to grow up herself. This experience has made her understandably timid, but she has started to come out of her shell in her foster home. All Daffy really needs is patience and love, and we know there is the perfect family out there just for Daffy.

Due to her shy nature, we believe Daffy could benefit from living with another cat to develop her confidence and really help her flourish. Perhaps a confident adult cat who can show her the ways of the world 🐈

Daffy would prefer an adult only home with no dogs. She's just a bit too nervous to cope with all that business. She would also really appreciate access to a garden away from busy roads, where she can safely explore and sunbathe to her hearts content ☀

If you think Daffy could be the girl for you, please visit the link below to view her profile and complete an application form!
