Jean and her husband Ian first became involved with Queensferry Care in 2016.
While Ian attended Day Opportunities, Jean was able to spend some time knowing he was somewhere he enjoyed and was well looked after.
Later, they began attending our couples Supper Club together, meeting other people in similar circumstances and building friendships.
Ian sadly died during Covid.
Jean returned to the couples Supper Club for a while, but realised things had changed.
“I did think a group just for carers would be great and I said as much. Now we have one!”
Today, Jean is part of our Carers Supper Club.
“We have that connection. Although we may not talk about our loved ones, we understand the pressures caring for someone who has a diagnosis of dementia can bring.”
Because when someone’s caring role changes, their need for friendship, understanding and connection doesn’t simply disappear. 💙
