On the last day of Halloween Half Term we bring you our wonderful Scarlet Ibis.

They owe their brilliant red feathers to carotenoid pigments in their food, particularly crustaceans such as crabs and prawns. A diet lacking these pigments can cause their plumage to become much paler.

These striking wading birds inhabit wetlands in South America, where they use their long, curved bills to probe mud and shallow water for food. Highly social, they forage in flocks and roost together in trees. Young scarlet ibises start life with dark feathers, gradually developing their characteristic red plumage as they mature.

TODAY is the last day to SAVE £4 per person on single tickets using code ‘CLAWS’ when pre-booking online or at reception. For full details of daily events please see the website.

Our thoughts are with you all. ❤️
