Make the most of your pumpkin this Halloween. 🎃

There are plenty of ways to make sure your pumpkin doesn’t go to waste. Use the flesh in seasonal recipes, add it to your at-home compost, or recycle it through your weekly food waste collection.

Here's what to do to recycle your pumpkin:
- ‎Remove any candles, decorations, paint, stickers or other non-organic materials
- ‎Break up your pumpkin and place it in your food waste bin along with your other food waste
- ‎If your pumpkin won't all fit inside the food waste bin, place it in a compostable bag and leave it on top of or next to the food waste bin for collection. Pumpkins left loose or in plastic bags won't be collected.

We'll collect extra pumpkin waste in this way for two weeks after Halloween, until Friday 13 November 2026. After that, standard food waste collection arrangements will resume.

🚗The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run 2026 will take place on Sunday, 1 November.🚙
The event, celebrating its 130th anniversary, is the world’s longest-running motoring event, first staged in 1927 to commemorate the 1896 Emancipation Run. It features pre-1905 veteran cars traveling approximately 60 miles from Hyde Park in London to Madeira Drive in Brighton. The cars depart from Hyde Park at sunrise (around 7 AM) and pass-through south London, Surrey, and Sussex before finishing in Brighton.

"What does the Parish Council actually do?"
It's a question we're sometimes asked, so here's a snapshot of just one week at Lindfield Parish Council:
📚 Supporting the Village Archive Exhibition
🏛 Holding Planning, Environment and Amenities Committee meetings
🤝 Hosting a Charity Networking Event
🍂 Running the Village Autumn Clean
💬 Meeting residents at our High Street pop-up stall
📋 Attending working group meetings to move projects forward
That's all in addition to the everyday work of serving residents, maintaining community facilities, managing governance responsibilities and supporting local initiatives.
A busy week, but one we're proud to be part of!

🍂 Lindfield Village Autumn Clean 2026 🍂
Did you spot our volunteers around the village on Saturday?
Lindfield Parish Council would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Village Autumn Clean. We were delighted to be joined by local residents, Parish Councillors and Council staff, all working together to help keep our village looking its best.
We hold these community clean-up events twice a year, and the more volunteers who join us, the more projects we can tackle. If you'd like to get involved in future events, please contact us at [email protected] or sign up for our new newsletter, coming soon! https://www.lindfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk/
Activities on the Day
✅ Litter picking throughout the village
✅ Clearing w**ds around the pond
✅ Hosting a pop-up information stand in the High Street
A special thank you to Mid Sussex District Council for providing hi-vis jackets, litter pickers and refuse bags, and for arranging the collection and disposal of the waste gathered during the event.
Every bag collected, every w**d removed and every conversation had helps make a real difference. Thank you once again for your time, energy and community spirit. Together, we're helping to keep Lindfield a clean, attractive and welcoming place for everyone. 🌿

Thank you to everyone who attended the Lindfield Archive Exhibition last Saturday and helped make it such a success.

A special thank you to our volunteer archivists Malcom, Janet and Jeff (pictured below), who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to curate and present this fascinating collection of photographs, maps, documents and local memorabilia. Their dedication to preserving Lindfield's history is truly invaluable.

We are grateful for your support and look forward to sharing more of our village's heritage in the future.
