π’ More Than Advice: A Special Visit from The Hammersmith & Fulham Mayor Sharon Holder!
We were incredibly proud to welcome the Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham to our offices last week. It was a fantastic opportunity to show her that while "Advice" is in our name, our mission goes much deeper.
The Mayor spent time with our staff and volunteers, learning about our "More Than Advice" model. This approach focuses on preventative support giving residents the tools and skills they need to stay independent and resilient.
π What we shared with the Mayor:
Beyond our core advice on debt, housing, benefits, employment, immigration and many more we showcased our vital community projects:
Financial Capability Training: Helping residents master budgeting and money management.
ESOL Classes: Breaking down language barriers to help neighbours connect and thrive.
Digital Support: Our sessions at Avonmore Library, ensuring no one is left behind in a digital world.
Community Libraries: We are proud to run both Avonmore Library and Askew Road Library, embedding our advice services within trusted community spaces.
Volunteering Offer: We offer several volunteering opportunities which help people to feel included in the community, build their skills, confidence and experience.
The Mayor thanked the team for their tireless work, noting how these services provide a lifeline for so many across the borough.
A huge thank you to Mayor Sharon Holder for her warmth, her interest in our volunteer stories, and her ongoing support for our community hubs!
