Vestiges of a dry creek 🎭 Coming to London
As part of the Voilà! Theatre Festival 2026 Voila! Theatre Festival Mexican artist Montserrat Cuellar Mestas presents Vestiges of a dry creek, The Road Home Is a Spiral, a captivating solo physical theatre performance that explores embodied and genetic memory through dance, song, and live storytelling.
📅 12 November 2026
🕘 9:00 PM
📍 Theatro Theatro Technis @ 26 Crowndale, London
Where documentary meets magical realism, Vestiges of a dry creek takes audiences on a phantasmagorical journey towards a place of origin: Jalisco, Mexico.
Inspired by Montserrat’s grandfather’s stories and Juan Rulfo’s The Burning Plain, the performance intertwines family archives with self-fiction, exploring the fragile connections between ancestry, migration, memory, and identity.
Through imagined landscapes of an unknown past, a girl walks home, tracing the vestiges of a dry creek and the threads that connect her to those who came before her.
The journey towards her origins—or perhaps towards death—unfolds as a spiral and a mirror: a search for the place we call home and the memories that remain within us.
🇲🇽 A powerful Mexican voice bringing memory, identity, and ancestral storytelling to the London stage.
