🕯️ Join us for 'Remember Me'

On Thursday 5 November, 11am–1pm, the homelessness community will come together at St Martin-in-the-Fields to remember those who have died prematurely due to homelessness in the last year.

This year's theme, 'Remember Me', invites us to honour lives lost, reflect together, and give thanks for the colleagues, staff and volunteers who supported people experiencing homelessness.

🌐 This National Internet Day, let’s remember that digital access isn’t a given for everyone.

Access to the internet can make a real difference for people experiencing homelessness, from finding essential services to staying connected with loved ones.

This year, we replaced our old equipment with 8 brand new PCs, giving our clients a faster, more reliable way to get online.

Because everyone deserves the opportunity to stay connected. 💙

Today, the Chancellor mentioned his visit to our Day Centre in the Budget.

We believe everybody can leave homelessness behind. Recovery can be a long journey, often involving setbacks as well as progress.

We welcome the government's £900 million commitment to ending rough sleeping and its recognition that rough sleeping is not something we should simply accept. It was a huge privilege for our frontline staff, who work at the heart of the rough sleeping crisis, to speak directly with some of the UK's most senior leaders about the challenges people sleeping rough face and the work needed to help them leave the streets behind for good.

A chat. A cup of tea. A warm meal. A safe place to stay.

These small things can be the start of a life-changing relationship for someone sleeping rough.

Today, the Prime Minister visited The Connection and St Martin's Charity to hear from people who have experienced homelessness and from the frontline staff supporting them every day.

We shared what we've learned: ending rough sleeping is about more than getting someone indoors. It takes trust, stable housing and the long-term support people need to rebuild their lives.

Today's visit is just the beginning. Together, we can make ending rough sleeping a reality.

"Homelessness is something that's always been close to my heart, so I wanted the charity I ran for to be something I genuinely cared about."

Last month, Amrit took on the Berlin Marathon and raised £653 for The Connection.

A keen marathon runner, Berlin was another milestone in his goal to complete all seven World Marathon Majors. Despite battling calf cramps in the final kilometres, he pushed through to the finish line, achieving a new personal best.

Reflecting on the experience, Amrit said: "Having a challenge to work towards and knowing you're raising money for something that genuinely helps people is a great feeling."

The money raised by supporters like Amrit helps more people move away from the streets and into a place they can call home.

"When the weather turns cold, it makes people think about those who sleep rough."

That's what inspired Friend of The Connection Emily to start a Halloween fundraiser five years ago.

Since then, her spooky displays have welcomed hundreds of local families each year, creating a fun, festival atmosphere while raising awareness of homelessness and encouraging donations to support our work.

From pumpkins and witches to haunted pirate ships and giant spiders, every Halloween has a new theme and a chance to start important conversations.

What can £24,028 achieve? Almost five months of hot and nutritious meals for people facing homelessness. 💙

That's what you helped make possible through Jay's Quiz this year.

Behind the friendly competition, questionable answers and fiercely contested points is something much bigger.

Now in its fifth year, Jay's Quiz brings people together to raise funds for The Connection, helping us support people experiencing homelessness in Westminster.

Yesterday was St Martin-in-the-Fields's 300th anniversary service, and our CEO Pam was there to celebrate with them.

We’re so grateful for the church’s support over the years, and for the volunteers who come to us from the church community. They make a real difference.

On the streets of London, modern slavery and rough sleeping are deeply connected. Research by Hestia Charity shows that nearly 1 in 10 people sleeping rough in London are victims of modern slavery.

Having already suffered unimaginable trauma at the hands of exploiters, victims left sleeping rough face an exceptionally high risk of being re-exploited.

Existing pathways out of homelessness often fall short due to fear, lack of information, or complex barriers. At The Connection, we work alongside our partners to ensure that every individual on the streets is recognised, protected, and given safe, trauma-informed support to rebuild their lives away from crisis.

🌸 This week, St Martin-in-the-Fields is hosting its 300th anniversary flower festival, filling the iconic church with breathtaking floral installations.

We are proud to see a dedicated display for Friends of The Connection, highlighting the vital community support and long-standing connection that enables us to assist individuals experiencing homelessness in central London.
