Exploring the birthplace of modern codebreaking at Bletchley Park!

The University of London Air Squadron took part in a fascinating guided tour, learning how WWII’s remarkable innovators at Bletchley pioneered today’s cybersecurity and intelligence operations using iconic devices like the Enigma machine and Colossus computer.

Our Officer Cadets explored the site’s pivotal role in the war effort and built on their own knowledge by presenting stands on air power tactics and intelligence gathering which saved the war. An inspiring and memorable day for all!

ULAS took part in the Frankland Moore Competition, alongside London URNU and the ULOTC.

Hosted by ULOTC, the competition focused on developing safe weapon handling, sharpening combat shooting skills, and building teamwork under pressure. It was a great day of learning, challenge, and collaboration across the London UAS, URNU, and OTC community.

Well done to everyone who took part!

RAF Hendon Museum Visit✈️
Earlier this month, a group of our students had the opportunity to visit the RAF Museum at Hendon. Throughout the day, they explored a remarkable collection of historic aircraft and exhibits, gaining a deeper understanding of the Royal Air Force’s heritage, engineering achievements, and operational history.

The visit offered an inspiring insight into the evolution of military aviation, from early designs to modern-day capability. Students also enjoyed the chance to engage with interactive displays, ask questions, and broaden their appreciation of the aircraft they learn about during their time at ULAS.

Last Sunday, Pilot Officer Ameen Mahmood, had the privilege of taking part in the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.

In the presence of His Majesty The King, PO Mahmood stood on behalf of the UAS community to honour the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

We continue to recognise the extraordinary contributions made by the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces — those who have served, those who serve today, and those who gave their lives in the defence of our freedoms.

We will always remember them.
