This evening we’re welcoming members to our Central Reception in the delightful surroundings of Cardney Estate and Wedding Venue near Dunkeld.

We’ll be hearing from our national and regional chairs, SLE directors and staff, and Debbie Mackay and Philip Graham from Savills. We’d like to say thank you to Savills, too, for sponsoring this event.

A fantastic evening at Marchmont House for our South East Regional Reception.

Members joined us to hear updates from across the organisation, the latest policy developments affecting rural Scotland, and regional activity from the past year.

Particularly engaging was the discussion on succession and preparing the next generation, with David Seed of FBR Seed and Henry Lakin of Marchmont Estate sharing their experiences and insights.

🦌🍽️ This , we're celebrating one of Scotland's most sustainable and nutritious natural foods.

High in protein, low in fat and packed with essential nutrients, game meat is a healthy food choice that also supports jobs and businesses in Scotland’s rural sector.

Our recent Angus Glens Impact Report found that rural estates support local partnerships and promote sustainable food use, with 1,519 game meat meals served through a partnership with Strathmore RFC.

And it goes further! Organisations such as the Country Food Trust are ensuring game meat reaches those who need it most, providing protein-rich meals to foodbanks across Scotland, from free range pheasant casserole to wild venison bolognese.

Defra must consider the Scottish impact of changes to gamebird regulation in England.

Our response to Defra's Call for Evidence highlights the importance of recognising the sector's cross-border supply chains and the wider benefits supported by sporting activity.

From sustaining rural jobs and businesses to supporting habitat management, peatland restoration, wildlife monitoring and wildfire resilience, these activities play an important role in Scotland's countryside and communities.

We've called for any future decisions to fully consider the potential consequences for Scotland alongside the intended outcomes in England.
