Over 4️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ students engaged...

This week, we met with students at Newcastle College, giving them an insight into the work of our Violence Reduction Unit and partners to tackle and prevent serious violence.

Students studying criminology and law at the college will begin taking part in a series of e-learning modules through our Violence Prevention Ambassadors Programme, deepening their understanding of the causes of violent crime, the warning signs, and importantly, the help and support available. 💻

And that's just the beginning... Students will hear from guest speakers from a range of backgrounds, carry out their own research, and develop a project to showcase their findings and ideas at an event towards the end of the year.

By engaging with young people, we're creating more opportunities to raise awareness and empower the next generation to explore how violence can be prevented.

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon. 👀

Great to speak with so many students at Freshers Fairs across Northumbria.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to share their views on safety, crime and the support available, as well as making sure they know where to turn if they ever need help.

Listening to what students have to say helps ensure our approach and resources, including dedicated Project Guardian policing patrols and prevention activity, is targeted to where it can make the greatest impact in communities.

As Susan Dungworth - Northumbria Police & Crime Commissioner said: "Whether you've grown up in the North East or have only just arrived, I hope you’ve had a warm welcome here."

Together, we're creating safer streets and stronger communities for everyone.
