Shocking to see so many mature trees and habitats cut back at Cullercoats Metro! 🤯🌳

We know that Nexus have to take action to maintain the safety of the railway, but this latest embankment clearance next to Cullercoats station follows an alarming pattern. Just as they did in Longbenton in May, Nexus have taken drastic action to fell and uproot planting without any consultation with the community, no warning to impacted residents, and no shared plan for how to restore valuable trackside habitats.

Communities deserve to be informed about the when and why, and to know what the future holds when such works are needed. Not too much to ask, Tyne and Wear Metro Kim McGuinness- North East Mayor ? 🫵
