NEW : More powers to crackdown on antisocial behaviour from today.
Thanks to a new law I drew up in Parliament, police forces and local councils now have more powers to tackle antisocial behaviour in town centres.
New Respect Orders mean stronger enforcement can be taken against repeat offenders - for example courts can ban them from town centres.
I drew up the law after talking to neighbourhood police and council officers here in the Five Towns who were frustrated that they couldn’t take action against the same small group of offenders who were causing havoc.
More neighbourhood police and more action to tackle antisocial behaviour - because Labour believes everyone deserves to feel safe where they live.
