🌳🌊 The Swanage Green Seafront planning applications have been approved by Dorset Council's Eastern Area Planning Committee 🌊🌳

The decision marks a significant milestone for the project, which aims to create a more stable and resilient seafront in Swanage, while providing improved amenity space for current and future generations.

Following the meeting of the Planning Committee, Swanage Town Mayor, Councillor Chris Tomes, said “Obtaining planning permission is an important step forward for the project and I would like to thank all residents who have attended meetings and provided comments on the proposals over the last three years as these have helped to shape the approved plans.”

👉 Next steps
Following planning approval, Swanage Town Council can now continue progressing the New Option, which was identified as its preferred scheme because of the wide range of economic, environmental and community benefits it will deliver, including a larger events space, improved accessibility and biodiversity.

🌊🌳Swanage Green Seafront Update 🌳🌊

Dorset Council's Planning Committee has approved the planning applications for the Swanage Green Seafront Stabilisation and Enhancement Scheme.

The decision allows the project to move forward into the next stage of development for the New Option, including detailed design, procurement and the discharge of planning conditions.

The scheme is intended to provide a more resilient seafront while delivering wider benefits such as improved accessibility, biodiversity enhancements and enhanced public amenity space.

Construction is currently expected to commence in autumn 2027. Further information and project updates will be shared as development progresses.
