Another wonderful blustery morning across Durlston Country Park and National Nature Reserve, the Holm Oaks along the coast swaying in the wind, these evergreens still covered in leaves, while the Sycamores and Ashes have now lost most of theirs. Take a stroll along the clifftop trail to enjoy the crashing seas, then pop into Durlston Castle for a coffee and cake! www.durlston.co.uk.

Do Badgers hibernate over winter?

Join Ranger Jason for the Sleepy Creatures hour at the Learning Centre on Thursday, 29 October, between 14:00 and 15:00, to find out about what wild animals do leading up to and during the winter to survive, as well as making arts and crafts.

Today is National Reptile Awareness Day - a day dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of reptiles! 🐍

Did you know here at Durlston we provide a home to five species of reptiles?

This includes four of the UK's native species: Adders, Grass Snakes, Slow Worms and Common Lizards, as well as Wall Lizards which are non-native, initially introduced to the UK from southern Europe. They are thriving here, having been first recorded in 2002 and you'll often see them basking in the sunshine on warm days on the walls around the Castle (as pictured below). Have you ever spotted a Wall Lizard on your visit?
