Against the odds, the RDG Women’s Football Team reached the quarterfinals of the Dhekelia Station 7s Tournament in Cyprus, with only one member of the squad playing football regularly. A fantastic effort showcasing teamwork, leadership, and resilience while paving the way for the future of women’s football in the Regiment. A shout-out to our Team Captain Tpr Stocker and Coach Tpr Kinanga. Thank you for your hard work in driving the team to success.
A huge thank you to the Army Sports Lottery for their funding and support in making this opportunity possible.

DRAGOONS | COMMAND | The End of a Chapter

Earlier this month, Lieutenant Colonel David Brooks stood before The Royal Dragoon Guards for the final time as Commanding Officer, bringing two years in command to a close.

With the Regiment on parade and his family watching, he reflected on three of the proudest moments of his career: Troop leading in Afghanistan, Squadron leading at the National Training Centre in Fort Irwin, California and, finally, having the privilege of commanding his Regiment.

His message was clear. The Regiment was never his.

“The Regiment does not belong to one Commanding Officer, or even one generation. It belongs to every serving soldier, every family, every Veteran, every individual who has worn the cap badge, those who have supported us and those who will follow.”

Over the past two years, the Regiment has deployed to Estonia, delivered major exercises, led thinking across Armoured Cavalry and marked a once-in-a-generation moment with the presentation of a new Standard.
But perhaps his greatest source of pride was not what was achieved, but who achieved it.

“Extraordinary people doing ordinary things exceptionally well.”

From our soldiers and junior commanders to our Warrant Officers, Sergeants and officers, and the families who support them, his final message recognised the people who make the Regiment what it is.

“The best days of this Regiment lie ahead, not behind us. Technology changes, vehicles change, war changes. Character does not change. Leadership does not change. This Regiment has both in abundance.”

The Regimental Band led the way, before one final and very special moment. As Colonel Brooks and his family left camp for the last time, members of our Fijian choir sang them out through the gates.

“We inherit command. We improve it. And then we hand it on.”

Two years of command complete, Colonel David Brooks leaves behind a Regiment stronger for his stewardship and ready for what comes next.
Now late Royal Dragoon Guards, he may leave the Regiment, but the Regiment will never leave him.

DRAGOONS | Investing in our families

Military life can place unique demands on Royal Dragoon Guards families. Time apart through , , and isn't always easy, which is why staying connected matters.

We're delighted to share that the Royal Dragoon Guards Charity has secured £15,000 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to deliver the RDG Family Connection Project, in with the Royal Dragoon Guards Welfare Team.

Over the next two years we'll be creating new opportunities for serving families to connect, reconnect and access support through:

📚 Resources & Education: A dedicated families webpage with trusted information and signposting.

🤝 Community Activities: Bringing families together to build friendships and strengthen community connections.

❤️ Reintegration & Family Connection: Helping families reconnect after periods of separation through shared experiences.

We're incredibly grateful to Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for investing in our Regimental Family and making this project possible.

We'll be sharing more over the coming weeks as activities begin to launch. We can't wait to welcome our serving families to the RDG Family Connection Project.
