HANDOVER OF STUDENT FURNITURE TO AYAWASO EAST MUNICIPAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE.
On, Thursday, May 14, 2026, Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly officially handed over new desks and chairs to the Municipal Education Directorate for distribution to schools across the municipality.
Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, the Municipal Chief Executive, described the donation as great news for students. He expressed gratitude to the President, the Minister for Local Government, and the Regional Minister for supplying durable furniture expected to last 5–7 years.
Hon. Baba Jamal, MP for East Ayawaso Constituency, emphasized the importance of providing comfortable learning environments for students. He praised the excellent collaboration between himself and the MCE, describing it as a model of teamwork that will continue to benefit the municipality. The MP also appealed to the Education Directorate to extend some of the furniture to private schools, stating, “They are our children too.”
Dr. William Komla Tsekpo, Municipal Education Director, was full of appreciation for the over 1,000 desks and chairs. He noted how the timely intervention helped BECE candidates and pledged proper maintenance to ensure long-term benefits and improved learning outcomes.
This is another positive step towards better education infrastructure in Ayawaso East!

Following yesterday’s fire outbreak at the Nima Market, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso East, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, together with the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East Constituency, Hon. Baba Jamal, visited the market this afternoon to sympathize with traders whose shops were affected and to assess the extent of the damage caused by the incident.

HANDOVER CEREMONY OF EQUIPMENT TO MASTER CRAFTSPERSONS AND APPRENTICES UNDER THE NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME
On 8th May 2026, the Municipal National Youth Authority under the National Apprenticeship Programme successfully handed over tools and equipment received so far including hair dryers, sewing machines, and more to Master Craft Persons and their apprentices.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Bawa, Municipal Director of the NYA, highlighted the Authority’s commitment to youth development through skills training and job creation.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim announced that this batch marks the first phase of the programme in the constituency, with plans to expand and train 400 more youth in the near future. He emphasized that practical skills are essential for creating jobs and reducing youth unemployment, assuring full Assembly support for every young person ready to learn.
Hon. Abdul Ibrahim Ganiyu urged the beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously, stating that “the eyes of the constituency are on them” and their success will inspire future batches.
Mr. Jones Klutse, Greater Accra Regional Coordinator for National Apprenticeship Programme, revealed that the government will fully fund the programme paying master craftsmen, providing monthly stipends to apprentices, supplying learning and startup kits, and covering CTVET certification costs. This year’s national target has been significantly increased to 100,000 trainees.
The beneficiaries, were randomly selected from thousands of applicants. As the programme continues to grow, more opportunities await.
Apprentices after their graduation will be given equipment and tools as a support to start their business.

*MCE INSPECTS ONGOING WORKS AT KAWUKUDI KANDA ASTRO TURF MINI- STADUIM Project*
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026 Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso East, today paid a working visit to the Kawukudi Kanda site to inspect the commencement of works on the new projected 1,000-seater AstroTurf mini-stadium.
The MCE toured the project site where contractors had already mobilized and begun preliminary construction activities, shortly after the site was officially handed over by the MCE and Hon. Baba Jamal, MP for Ayawaso East.
During the inspection, the MCE personally assessed the progress made so far and engaged with the contractors on site. He expressed satisfaction with the initial mobilization and pace of work.
