Friday morning, we joined The Or Foundation on a tour tracing pollution all the way to the Atlantic🌊

From June 4th market to the Korle Lagoon, we followed the journey of waste from second-hand clothing through Accra’s drainage system.

🌊 A milestone for Norway–Ghana ocean cooperation!

Following the signing of the Ocean for Development cooperation agreement, Norwegian institutions and their Ghanaian counterparts came together for two days of discussions on the way forward.

The programme will bring together expertise across key areas of the blue economy:

🔹 Blue health
🔹 Blue safety and security

🌊 Strengthening Norway-Ghana cooperation for a sustainable blue economy.

A great milestone: Norway and Ghana signed a cooperation agreement under the Oceans for Development programme. It will support the implementation of Ghana’s Blue Economy Policy by providing technical expertise and strengthening institutional capacity.

Building on our longstanding cooperation through Oil for Development and Fish for Development, this partnership marks a new chapter in our shared commitment to sustainable ocean management.🇳🇴🤝🇬🇭

📱📊Under the Ghana Anti-Disinformation Coalition Project (GADC), Norway is proud to fund efforts to strengthen resilience against disinformation and promote access to reliable information.

Last Thursday, the Ambassador participated in the launch of Penplusbytes ' research report "Local Languages, AI and Fighting Disinformation in Ghana: Insights for Practitioners" and the platform KasaGadi.ai.

One of the report’s key findings is that language and linguistic identity can make people more vulnerable to disinformation, highlighting the importance of local languages in efforts to counter it.

To help address this challenge, Penplusbytes has developed KasaGadi.ai, a multilingual AI-powered fact-checking platform. The platform supports grassroots and community radio stations in Ghana by helping them verify information in the languages spoken by their audiences.

In August, we visited Fatchu in Ghana's Upper West Region alongside the Danish Embassy as part of our engagement with UNDP's Atlantic Corridor Project. The project works with local communities in vulnerable border areas to strengthen resilience and prevent the spread of violent extremism.

During the visit, we met with local leaders and beneficiaries and took part in the handover of livelihood assets. The programme aims to create opportunities for women and young people and support stronger, more resilient communities.

🇳🇴🤝🇬🇭 Last week, Ambassador Kvistad paid a courtesy call on Hon. Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.

Ghana and Norway continue to strengthen their environmental cooperation. Recent discussions focused on reducing plastic pollution and supporting ongoing efforts under the Convention on Biological Diversity. The exchange also highlighted upcoming cooperation through the Ocean for Development programme.🌊

Last week marked the launch of Making Agrifood Markets Accessible for Soy Farmers (MAMA). Norway is proud to support this programme, implemented by IDH in partnership with IITA, YARA Ghana and AGRA.🌾🌱

MAMA aims to transform Ghana's soy value chain by promoting market-driven, inclusive and climate-resilient growth. Over the next three years, the project seeks to improve productivity, strengthen market access and increase resilience for smallholder soy farmers in Northern Ghana through SME-led sourcing and processing models.

Norway is proud to support initiatives that promote inclusive job creation and resilient agricultural development in Ghana. 🇳🇴🤝🇬🇭
