Empowering girls through sport โฝ๐
The Rights of the Child Commission (RCC) welcomes the launch of the third edition of the Blue Water Shipping Girls U15 National Championship, an initiative by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in collaboration with Blue Water Shipping.
This growing platform continues to provide young girls across Guyana with opportunities to develop their skills in a safe, structured, and inclusive environmentโpromoting confidence, teamwork, discipline, and overall well-being.
RCC commends efforts that support the holistic development of children and reinforce the importance of safe spaces where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Today, the Rights of the Child Commission, in collaboration with UNICEF, hosted an advocacy training session with youths from across the different regions of Guyana in attendance. The session provided a valuable platform for young people to engage, share perspectives, and strengthen their capacity to advocate for issues in their communities.
Shannae Trotz presented on childrenโs rights in the context of Guyana, while Suphane Dash-Alleyne presented on climate priorities. Ms. Mahogany from UNICEF Guyana and Suriname also delivered presentations on key advocacy concepts.

Today, the Rights of the Child Commission joins the nation in recognizing and celebrating the dedication, resilience, and hard work of all workers across Guyana.
Labour Day is a reminder of the value of dignity, fairness, and respect in the workplace and the importance of safeguarding the rights of every individual, including our children.
As we honour the contributions of workers, we also reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every child is protected, supported, and given the opportunity to grow, learn, and achieve their full potential.

The Rights of the Child Commission (RCC) engaged Brickdam Secondary School, including the PTA and student body, in an interactive session focused on the role of the Commission and the rights and responsibilities of students.
The session also emphasized safeguarding childrenโs rights and raising awareness of the Commissionโs complaints and communication mechanisms.

The Rights of the Child Commission (RCC) continues its outreach in Region 9, engaging regional leadership to strengthen partnerships and improve child protection efforts.
Discussions focused on establishing a Childrenโs Rights Committee within the RDC, along with raising awareness on the UNCRC, safeguarding childrenโs rights, and preventing sexual exploitation and abuse.
Together, we are working to ensure every child grows in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
