Accelerating global action against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)!
CCAMP today held the 2nd India AMR Innovation Workshop in New Delhi, under the aegis of the India AMR Innovation Hub ( ), chaired by the Principal Scientific Adviser to GoI
The workshop brought together 100 key stakeholders from across the national and global innovation ecosystem, marking one of the largest dialogues of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region.
Prof. Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to GoI, noted: “Our diverse and fragmented healthcare landscape, our vast geographic area, the largest population in the world and our recent role as the 'pharmacy of the world' put us at the very epicentre of this challenge.
The AMR crisis needs a multi-sectoral coordinated response because of this animal-human-food-environmental interface. IAIH as NAP 2.0 Innovation Arm will play a crucial role in India's AMR combat and preparedness.”
Dr. Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Principal Scientific Adviser to GoI, added: "The Office of the PSA remains committed to providing the best interventions possible for the scientific breakthroughs supported through IAIH to thrive.
We are keen to position India as a primary scientific and innovation destination in the global AMR knowledge pool. IAIH is proof that we can become the country that’s the most prepared and ready globally when it comes to fighting AMR.”
Dr. Renu Swarup, Former Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, India, Government of India, said: "AMR requires focused and sustained attention. Moving forward, let's align with the One Health approach of the Government of India, recognising the interconnected health of people, animals, and the environment.
We need to integrate both top-down and bottom-up approaches to ensure last-mile impact. Also, effective data management and data sharing need to remain central to guiding evidence-based action."
Welcoming participants, Taslimarif Saiyed, Director-CEO, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms, presented the IAIH vision, efforts and solutions to address AMR across human health, agri, animal health and the environment.
