🚁 DRONE SAFETY IN JERSEY – KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU FLY! 🇯🇪

Drones are becoming increasingly popular across Jersey, whether for recreation, photography or commercial use. However, operating a drone comes with important legal responsibilities.

⚠️ Did you know that Jersey has its own aviation legislation, which differs from the UK?

Under the Air Navigation (Jersey) Law 2014, drone operators must comply with a number of safety requirements.

✅ KEEP YOUR DRONE IN SIGHT
You must maintain direct visual contact with your drone at all times, ensuring you can safely avoid aircraft, people and property.

✅ MAXIMUM FLYING HEIGHT – 400FT (APPROX. 120M)
You must not fly above 400 feet without permission from Air Traffic Control.

✅ STAY CLEAR OF JERSEY AIRPORT
You must not fly within 2 nautical miles (approximately 3.7km) of Jersey Airport without prior permission from Jersey Air Traffic Control. Other airspace restrictions may also apply.

✅ KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE
For drones fitted with cameras or surveillance equipment, unless specifically authorised:

• Stay at least 50 metres away from people, vehicles, vessels and structures not under your control.

• Stay at least 150 metres away from congested areas, including towns and built-up areas.

• Do not fly over or within 150 metres of organised outdoor gatherings of more than 1,000 people.

✅ RESPECT PEOPLE’S PRIVACY
Be considerate when recording photographs or video. Drone operators must comply with applicable privacy and data protection requirements.

✅ COMMERCIAL DRONE OPERATIONS
If you’re operating a drone for commercial purposes, you must obtain the appropriate permission from the Jersey Director of Civil Aviation.

🚨 WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Unsafe or unlawful drone activity can put aircraft, emergency services and members of the public at serious risk.

A drone flown near an airport or aircraft could cause significant disruption and potentially endanger lives.

⚖️ REMEMBER – YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!

Drone operators are legally responsible for ensuring that their flights are safe and compliant with Jersey’s legislation. Breaching these requirements could result in prosecution.

🏀💙 A special new chapter for Jersey basketball

The Parish of St Helier is delighted that the official opening of The Guillaume Memorial Court (The G Court) at Millennium Park will be taking place tomorrow.

The G Court is a lasting tribute to Guillaume Hoareau and the positive impact he had on so many people through basketball and community spirit, and everyone is welcome to join the Jersey basketball family as the new court is officially unveiled. ✨

Join us for a very special morning as we officially open The Guillaume Memorial Court (The G Court), a lasting tribute to our much-loved friend, player and coach, Guillaume Hoareau – G. This newly redeveloped basketball court is more than just a place to play. It's a celebration of G's passion for basketball, his love for the community and the legacy he leaves behind.

We would love to see the entire Jersey basketball family, friends, young players, families and members of the public come together to honour G and celebrate this special moment.

9:00am - Saturday 31st October, Millennium Park, St Helier
10:00am - Official opening

This court represents everything G loved about basketball, bringing people together, creating opportunities and inspiring the next generation. Let's fill the park, show our support and make this a morning to remember.

🔨 Scaffolding contractors sought for St Ewolds project

The Parish of St Helier is inviting experienced scaffolding contractors to register their interest in tendering for the St Ewolds window and door replacement project.

The works include the design, supply, er****on, maintenance and removal of a Cuplock scaffold system at an occupied residential care setting.
