📢 New publication - Reading Tehran After the War: Resistance Doctrine and the Limits of Negotiation
The June 2026 memorandum between the United States and Iran gave both sides sixty days to reach a final agreement. That window closed on 17 August without a deal, and the ceasefire it was meant to secure had already broken down.
📄 In the third paper of our series following up on the conference “Changing Regional Security in the Middle East“, organised with the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan, Dr. Sara Bazoobandi explains why Tehran sees this outcome as vindication rather than failure. According to the doctrine of resistance, which officials and scholars close to the late Supreme Leader have built over the years, absorbing pressure while imposing costs on a stronger adversary counts as victory. That thinking shapes how Iran approaches negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz, its missile programme and its regional allies today.
