Development in action as Sonko and Mwendandu launch transformative electricity project in Itulu
Ikanga/Kyatune Ward today witnessed another defining chapter of progress as MCA Hon. Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, alias Sonko, together with Kitui County CECM for Energy and Environment John Mwendandu, launched the County-REREC electricity partnership project in Itulu village. Through this initiative, 86 households are set to receive electricity, a life changing boost made possible by a joint financial commitment between the County Government of Kitui and REREC on a one to one contribution basis, deliberately designed to uplift the ordinary mwananchi.
The launch stands as a clear testament to Hon. Sonko’s development focused leadership over the last three years. His consistent push for practical, people driven projects has transformed promises into visible results on the ground. By bringing power closer to homes, the project opens doors to better livelihoods, improved security, expanded business opportunities and a brighter future for families who have waited patiently for such progress.
Speaking at the event, MCA Sonko warmly thanked Governor Dr Julius Malombe’s administration, particularly the Ministry of Energy under CECM John Mwendandu, for their dedication to service delivery. He also appreciated his fellow Members of the County Assembly of Kitui for supporting the budget that enabled the county to partner effectively with REREC, noting that teamwork at the assembly level is key to meaningful development.
The MCA reaffirmed his commitment to work closely with Governor Malombe, CECM Mwendandu and all county government officials to lobby for more transformative projects across Ikanga Kyatune Ward. He was accompanied by Ward Assistant Nicholas Kivite, Personal Assistant Senior Kilunda and Monicah Wilson, with the event also attended by Ward Administrator Joycaster Mumina, area Village Administrator David Musyula, administrators from neighbouring villages, REREC officials and other county government representatives.
As the lights begin to shine in Itulu, the wider message is unmistakable. Hon. Sonko’s solid development record continues to speak louder than words, positioning him firmly for a second term in 2027. His visible achievements are already making opponents sweat as they struggle to explain their agenda to mwananchi, while he has already delivered where it truly matters.

MCA Sonko’s Transformative Touch as Kasang’u Dispensary Takes Shape
By Nicholas Kivite
The people of Kasang’u in Ngwani/Yongela county village, Kyatune location, now have every reason to smile as the long awaited dream begins to materialize. Under the leadership of Ikanga/Kyatune Ward MCA Hon. Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, alias Sonko, construction of the Kasang’u Dispensary has officially kicked off following the handing over of the project site to the contractor last month. This milestone marks a major boost to healthcare access for Kasang’u and neighboring villages that have for years struggled with distance and limited medical services.
The project, which was passionately lobbied for by MCA Sonko, is funded through the National Equalisation Fund and implemented by the County Government of Kitui through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. APHIKOSI World Wide Logistics has been contracted to deliver the facility, which will include a five roomed dispensary, a maternity wing, and two door pit latrines, all at a consolidated cost of KES 6.7 million. The construction is scheduled to be completed within four months, signaling swift progress and commitment to service delivery.
This dispensary is a project that the MCA holds close to his heart. Last year, he personally took part in mobilizing the community and organizing fundraising efforts to acquire the land for the facility, working alongside other notable leaders including the Governor’s political advisor Hon. Patrice Mwangu Ivuti. His hands on involvement reflects a leader deeply connected to the needs and aspirations of his people.
Over the past three years, Hon. Sonko has distinguished himself through relentless lobbying for development projects and a people-centered leadership style that prioritizes tangible impact. The ongoing construction of Kasang’u Dispensary stands as a powerful testament to his development record. As residents of Ikanga/Kyatune Ward witness these gains, they have clear reasons to believe in his leadership and, come 2027, to undoubtedly reelect a leader who has consistently delivered for his people.
