Funding Opportunity for MSMEs to Strengthen Cyber Resilience

The MDIA in collaboration with MITA-NCC, is supporting National Cybersecurity Coordination Centres across the EU through the SECURE project - Strengthening EU SMEs’ Cyber Resilience.

Building cyber resilience is becoming increasingly important for businesses across Europe. To support this effort, the SECURE Project has launched its 2nd Open Call, making €11.5 million available to help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) enhance their cybersecurity capabilities and prepare for compliance with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Eligible MSMEs can apply for grants of up to €30,000, with applications open until 11th December 2026.

MSMEs interested in applying can also benefit from the support services offered by Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM), which can provide guidance throughout the application process.

“Effective AI governance should enable innovation, not stand in its way.”

Gavril Flores, Chief Officer – Strategy, Policy & Governance at the MDIA, participated in the EY Future Realised conference, joining the panel discussion ‘The Convergence: Public Meets Private AI’.

The discussion focused on how the public and private sectors can work together to support AI adoption, while ensuring that innovation goes hand in hand with responsible governance.

Gavril shared his views on the importance of practical regulation, closer collaboration with industry, and the need for organisations to see AI governance as part of good business strategy rather than simply a compliance exercise.

As MedTech World 2026 approaches, we’re pleased to highlight the MDIA’s contributions to this year’s programme.

On 12 November (Day 1), the MDIA's Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth Brincat, will deliver a keynote speech on the La Valette Stage.

On 13 November (Day 2), Chief Officer for Strategy, Policy & Governance, Gavril Flores, will contribute to the panel “Malta as a Life Sciences Gateway: Regulatory Advantage, FDI & the Case for Setting Up Here.”

The MDIA will also be present with a stand throughout the event.
