This World Rhino Day feels different.

Today, as we celebrate the rhinos we have dedicated our lives to protecting, we do so with incredibly heavy hearts as we remember the man who started it all.

Jaco Muller founded the Rhino Momma Project with a fierce determination to give rhinos a fighting chance. What began as his vision became something extraordinary: a place where rhinos could be protected, calves could be born, and hope for the future of this species could grow.

His absence will be felt beyond words. But when we look across this reserve and see the rhinos he fought so hard for, we are reminded that his life’s work is still here. It lives in every mother and calf, every rhino under our protection, and every person who continues the fight he began.

So today, we celebrate World Rhino Day for Jaco.

We will keep protecting them.
We will keep fighting for them.
We will keep his legacy alive.

For the rhinos. For their future. For Jaco. 🦏🤍
