The National Bureau of Statistics has published the results of the 2022/2023 National Agricultural Sample Survey (NASS), conducted in collaboration with partners FAO Nigeria World Bank Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The Survey findings show that during the major season of the 2022/2023 agricultural year, cassava had the largest quantities harvested with 21.90 billion kg, followed by yam with 18.70 billion kg, maize with 17.35 billion kg and rice with 13.04 billion kg.
The total livestock population stood at 273.80 million animals across the country.
Goats recorded the highest with 138.95 million, followed by sheep with 64.93 million and cattle with 54.81 million, while horses had the least with 74,268.

In September 2025, the Headline inflation rate eased to 18.02% relative to the August 2025 inflation rate of 20.12%.
Month on Month headline inflation rate in September 2025 was 0.72%.
Food Inflation rate was -1.57% Month on Month.
