2026 MICHD Programme Extends to Lagos’ Riverine Communities
The Lagos State Mother, Infant and Child Health Development (MICHD) Programme has extended its 2026 intervention to engage and meet the needs of vulnerable expectant mothers living in riverine communities along the State’s coastal waterways.
The flag-off took place at the Badore Ferry Terminal, where expectant mothers from eight riverine communities across Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and Eti-Osa LGAs came together. While the second one today was held at Takwa Bay with the mothers across four riverine communities across the Iru, Ojo and Amuwo-Odofin LGAs.
The event gave officials a chance to meet residents in person, engage them on government programmes and interventions available to them, listen to their concerns, and share useful information on maternal and child health.
The mothers also received essential MICHD food and nutritional items to help keep them and their unborn children healthy during pregnancy.
The State Government remains committed to all-inclusive governance, because every community matters. Coastal and hard-to-reach communities will not be left out.
Big thank you to the women of Isan, Ito Omu, Abomiti, Imogo, Ito Osun, Ofin, Igbo Apawa, Ijayo, Agala, Abagbo, Ilado-Odo, Ebute-Oko and Takwa Bay communities for showing up.
