The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija proudly recognizes the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija, all five (5) Component Cities, and all twenty-seven (27) Municipalities for successfully attaining the High Functionality Level in the FY 2026 Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (LCAT-VAWC) Functionality Assessment, achieving a 100% province-wide High Functionality rating.

The LCAT-VAWC Functionality Assessment measures the compliance and performance of local committees in accordance with the standards prescribed under DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2023-181. It evaluates the effectiveness of local government units in institutionalizing policies and programs, strengthening inter-agency coordination and partnerships, implementing responsive interventions, and delivering protective services aimed at preventing trafficking in persons and eliminating violence against women and their children.

This remarkable achievement reflects the steadfast commitment of Nueva Ecija's local government units to fostering responsive governance through strengthened local mechanisms that safeguard women and children from trafficking, abuse, exploitation, and all forms of violence.

UNITING FOR A CLEANER MANILA BAY: DILG NUEVA ECIJA MOBILIZES STAKEHOLDERS FOR 2ND QUARTER CLEAN-UP DRIVE IN SAN ANTONIO

Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainable community development, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija, under the leadership of Provincial Director Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac Jr., CESO V, spearheaded the 2nd Quarter Clean-Up Drive in Barangay Buliran, Municipality of San Antonio, Nueva Ecija, as part of the continuing implementation of the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP).

The activity was hosted by Hon. Rosalie L. Mendoza, Punong Barangay of Barangay Buliran, and was graced by Municipal Mayor Hon. Angelita Salonga-Esquivel, MD, together with members of the Sangguniang Bayan of San Antonio.

In her message, Mayor Salonga-Esquivel emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of all sectors of the community. She highlighted that environmental neglect can have long term consequences on the overall community well-being, underscoring the need to address these concerns through immediate and collective action.

The clean-up drive brought together personnel from the DILG Nueva Ecija Provincial Office, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Rowena S. Adriano, Municipal Planning and Development Officer/Officer-in-Charge Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MPDO/OIC-MENRO) Mr. Augusto T. Ortiz, representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with partner civil society organizations, barangay officials and functionaries, and community volunteers.

The activity highlighted the power of collaboration in advancing environmental stewardship and demonstrated the collective commitment of national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, and the community toward achieving a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient environment.

QUAKE-READY COMMUNITY: DILG NUEVA ECIJA JOINS 2ND QUARTER 2026 NSED

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija Provincial Office, under the leadership of Provincial Director Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac Jr., CESO V, joined the nationwide conduct of the 2nd Quarter 2026 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), reaffirming its commitment to disaster preparedness and resilience.

As earthquakes remain among the most unpredictable natural disasters, capable of causing widespread destruction and loss of life, preparedness is key to mitigating their adverse effects and ensuring the safety of communities.

Through its active participation in the drill, personnel of the Provincial Office reinforced life-saving skills, including the proper ex*****on of the Duck, Cover, and Hold technique, maintaining composure during emergencies, and identifying safe evacuation areas. The activity also served as an opportunity to strengthen awareness and readiness in responding to earthquake-related emergencies.

DILG Nueva Ecija continues to affirm its commitment to supporting the country's disaster resilience and preparedness initiatives in building safer, more resilient, and quake-ready communities.

June 16, 2026 | The Provincial Inter-Agency Monitoring Team (PIMT), led by DILG Nueva Ecija, successfully conducted the Exit Conference for the CY 2026 Functionality Assessments of the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) and the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) via the Zoom Teleconferencing Platform.

The activity was attended by members of the PIMT, City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers, and designated LGU LCAT-VAWC and LCPC Focal Persons from across the province.

During the conference, LGOO V Angelyn B. De Guzman, Provincial LCAT-VAWC Lead Focal Person; LGOO II Ricabelle M. Lising, Provincial LCPC Lead Focal Person; and LGOO V Maria Gabriela Isabel C. Bernardez, Provincial LCPC Alternate Focal Person, presented the overall assessment results, highlighting key observations, areas for improvement, and recommendations to further strengthen local mechanisms for the protection of women and children.

Assessment results revealed that all thirty-two (32) City and Municipal Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (C/MCAT-VAWCs) attained a Highly Functional rating. Similarly, thirty (30) out of thirty-two (32) City and Municipal Councils for the Protection of Children (C/MCPCs) were likewise assessed as Highly Functional.

These results reflect the sustained commitment of local government units in institutionalizing responsive programs, policies, and interventions that uphold and protect the rights and welfare of women and children. The PIMT likewise encouraged LGUs to sustain their gains and continuously enhance their initiatives toward achieving and maintaining highly functional local councils and committees.

June 16, 2026 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose City, officially inaugurated the newly constructed concrete road leading to San Raymundo Elementary School in Barangay Tondod, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. The project marks another significant step in the city's continuing efforts to provide safe, efficient, and convenient access to education and essential community services.

The project was funded through the FY 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) of the DILG, an incentive program that supports the implementation of priority development projects of local government units (LGUs) recognized for exemplary governance through the conferment of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

The inauguration and turnover ceremony was led by Hon. Josel F. Violago, City Mayor of San Jose City, together with local government officials and personnel. Also present were Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr., CESO V, Provincial Director of DILG Nueva Ecija, LGOO VI Ronnel S. Ubungen, City Local Government Operations Officer, personnel from DILG Nueva Ecija, and school officials and teachers.

The completion of the 195-meter concrete road underscores the commitment of the City Government and DILG to creating a more accessible, safer, and learner-friendly environment. The improved road network will greatly benefit students, teachers, parents, and residents by providing a more reliable route to and from the school, especially during adverse weather conditions when road accessibility often becomes a challenge.

Beyond improving mobility, the project is expected to contribute to better educational outcomes by ensuring that students can travel to school safely and on time. It also enhances emergency access and facilitates the delivery of educational resources and public services. By paving the way to better education, the local government continues to build stronger foundations for future generations.

𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬

June 11, 2026 – The DILG Nueva Ecija, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Zaragoza, successfully conducted the first cycle of distribution of the Assistance to Indigent Individuals or Families – Rice Distribution Program (AIIF-RDP) held at the Sto. Rosario Gymnasium and Municipal Gymnasium in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija.

The program was funded under the FY 2026 Local Government Support Fund – Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU), a government initiative designed to assist local governments in implementing development and social assistance projects.

Hon. Lovella Belmonte-Espiritu, Municipal Mayor, spearheaded the orderly and efficient distribution of 10-kilogram rice packs to the 2,118 target beneficiaries, particularly to the 1,159 persons with disabilities (PWDs), 173 cancer and dialysis patients, 115 bedridden senior citizens, 64 senior citizens aged 80 years old and above, 529 registered farm laborers/workers, and 78 residents of the flood-prone community in Sitio Balumbon. Also present during the activity was LGOO VI Donnabel E. Estipular, DILG Program Manager, together with other DILG personnel.

This activity underscores the commitment of both the national and local government in ensuring that no vulnerable individual or family is left behind, particularly during periods of economic hardship and food security concerns.

This remarkable achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of Nueva Ecija LGUs to responsible governance, prudent financial management, and the delivery of quality public service to their constituents.
