Mandate
The PSA shall primarily be responsible for the implementation of the objectives and provisions of R.A. 10625, R.A. 11055, and R.A. 11315. It shall plan, develop, prescribe, disseminate, and enforce policies, rules and regulations, and coordinate government-wide programs governing the production of official statistics, general purpose statistics, civil registration services and inclusive identification system. It shall primarily be responsible for all national censuses and surveys, sectoral statistics, community-based statistics, consolidation of selected administrative recording systems, and compilation of national accounts. READ | PSA advances digital civil registration, recognizes outstanding civil registry offices at 5NCCRVS

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showcased its digital innovations and recognized outstanding Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) during the 5th National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (5NCCRVS), held from 06 to 07 October 2026 at PSA Headquarters, East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.

As the first-ever hybrid multi-venue convention, the 5NCCRVS gathered 2,660 participants, including 526 onsite and 2,134 online attendees, comprising local civil registrars, local chief executives, government officials, members of the academe, and other stakeholders nationwide.

Anchored on the theme, “Navigating the Future Together: Advancing CRVS in Shaping the Global and Regional Data Ecosystem,” the two-day convention served as an avenue for sharing best practices, strengthening partnerships, and exploring ways to make civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) services more accessible and responsive to the needs of Filipinos.

LOOK | Philippine Statistical System Concludes the 37th NSM with Closing Ceremony hosted by the BSP

Spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and hosted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the 37th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration concluded with a Closing Ceremony held on 28 October 2026 at the BSP Assembly Hall, BSP Complex, Malate, Manila.

The Closing Ceremony featured a Public Information Campaign (PIC) titled “Beyond the Numbers: A Journey from Data to Policy,” which showcased how statistical insights translate into sound economic strategies and inclusive policy formulation, and the announcement of the 37th NSM Awards winners.

The program concluded with closing remarks delivered by PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, expressing her gratitude to both the government and private sectors for their support to the 37th NSM celebration through the conduct of and participation in various activities, at both the national and regional levels. She also extended her invaluable appreciation to the 37th NSM Steering Committee, its Subcommittees on Programs and Awards, and Advocacy and Promotions, and all partner agencies for the resounding success of this year's NSM celebration.

As the lead implementing agency of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 11315 or the CBMS Act, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) informs all local government units (LGUs) that the agency does not accredit any third‑party service provider to conduct data collection activities on behalf of the LGUs and/or the PSA.

While LGUs retain autonomy to engage external partners, any third party must operate strictly within the bounds of national statistical standards and under the final oversight of the PSA. This ensures data quality and integrity in accordance with the provisions of the CBMS Act, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and other applicable laws and regulations.

LOOK | PSA strengthens personnel’s capacity in compiling mineral accounts under PENCAS Act

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted a three-day Training Workshop on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting 2012 - Central Framework (SEEA-CF) for Mineral Accounts of the Philippines from 20 to 22 October 2026.

The workshop focused on the Mineral Asset Accounts of the Philippines, strengthening participants’ understanding of the SEEA-CF concepts, structures, and principles.

In support of the institutionalization and implementation of Republic Act No. 11995 or the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) Act, the workshop aimed to harmonize the concepts, principles, and methodologies used in compiling mineral accounts among the PSA Central and Regional Statistical Services Offices, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central and Regional Offices.

This initiative forms part of the continuous efforts of the PSA to ensure that its personnel are capacitated in the implementation of PENCAS Act.
