‎DICT REPRESENTATIVES VISIT THE MUNICIPAL MAYOR OF JOLO
‎
‎Representatives from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) visited Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, to discuss the implementation of the LGU ICT Readiness Survey 2026.
‎
‎The survey is intended to assess the current state of information and communications technology in local government units, including their digital system, services, policies, and infrastructure. It also seek to identify areas for improvement and support better planning for digital government services.

DTI-SULU RECOGNIZE TWO JOLO BUSINESSES WITH BRONZE BAGWIS AWARD

‎On behalf of Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, the Municipal Government of Jolo extend its warmest congratulation to New-Sincere Convenience Store and Simply Joy Boutique for receiving the prestigious Bronze BAGWIS Award from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Sulu.
‎
‎This award recognize their commitment to consumer welfare, fair business practices, and responsible service. Their achievement shows the importance of providing quality service, protecting consumer rights, and maintaining honest business practice.
‎
‎Municipal Government of Jolo is proud of these local businesses for bringing honor to the municipality. May this recognition inspire other business establishment to continue improving their service and contribute to the growth and progress of Jolo.

‎In a separate initiative, Mayor Tan also approved the request of DTI-Sulu for the conduct of the Co-Consumer Run 2026, scheduled for October 31, 2026, with 5K and 8K categories. This activity is intended to promote consumer rights, product safety, healthy lifestyles, and greater awareness of consumer welfare among local residents.

NATIONAL DISABILITY RIGHTS WEEK

Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, attended the National Disability Rights Week celebration and delivered an inspirational message. He highlighted the importance of respecting the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and providing them with equal opportunities to participate in the community. He also stressed the need to raise awareness and promote equal access to services, respect, and inclusion for all.

‎The activity was conducted by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) – Sulu Provincial Operating Office at the Jolo Municipal Tennis Court in Jolo, Sulu. It carried the theme, “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development.”
‎
‎Also present at the event were Executive Assistant Erich Q. Tan; Councilor Alkramer R. Izquierdo; Disability Affairs Officer Ruhoddin S. Saabdulla; MSWD Officer Saali H. Haril; Suraya C. Kuhutan, RSW, Provincial Link of 4Ps; Darwisa Jailani; as well as other personnel, representatives of person with disabilities from different municipalities, and partner organizations.

LGU JOLO DEPARTMENT HEADS STRENGTHEN CAMARADERIE THROUGH TEAMBUILDING

The Municipal Department Heads of Jolo took a break from officeworks for a well-deserved team building activity sponsored by Mayor Hji. Edsir Q. Tan.

After the friendly pickleball tournament and welcome dinner held last October 23, 2026, it was followed by more fun games with lots of laughters, teamwork, and a little bit of healthy competition yesterday.

Department Heads are the trusted arm of the Local Chief Executive. With the weight of responsibilities they carry every day, they truly deserve a wellness break, a time to unwind, recharge, and reconnect. This is also in line with the Civil Service Commission’s encouragement to promote work-life balance, employee wellness, and a healthy workplace in government.

More than just fun, activities like this are important in the civil service. It helps us build stronger bonds, trust each other more, and work better as one team.

DEPARTMENT HEADS SHOW OFF SKILLS IN FRIENDLY MINI TOURNAMENT

It was all fun and friendly competition as municipal department heads faced off in a mini tournament joined by the Municipal Mayor Hji. Edsir Q. Tan and First Lady Hja. Rufaida A. Tan.

Players from beginners to novice to advance level showed up and showed out, proving that they’re not just good in office work, but also on the court.

After a series of exciting matches, the Municipal Planning and Development Office Team emerged as Champion and Gold Medalist, followed by HRMO Team as 1st Runner-up and Municipal Budget Office Team as 2nd Runner-up.

Congratulations to all winners and to everyone who participated!

INAUGURATION AND TURNOVER CEREMONY OF THE SULU HALL OF JUSTICE
‎
‎Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, joined the inauguration and turnover ceremony of the Sulu Hall of Justice.‎The event marked an important step in improving access to justice and bringing legal services closer to the people of the province.
‎
‎The ceremony was led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, together with other national and local officials, members of the judiciary, and representatives from various government agencies. Their presence showed the shared commitment of the national and provincial governments to strengthening the justice system and ensuring that the rights of the people are protected under the law.

‎Also present at the ceremony were Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara, members of the Supreme Court, regional officials, local chief executives, and other invited guests.‎

The Sulu Hall of Justice is expected to support the work of the courts and other offices involved in the delivery of justice, helping ensure that legal services are available to those who need them.‎
The ceremony showed the continued partnership between the national and provincial governments in promoting peace and respect for the law.‎
The opening of the Sulu Hall of Justice marks an important step toward protecting people’s rights and promoting justice, peace, and progress in Sulu.

CELEBRATION OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE (IP) MONTH

‎The Municipal Government of Jolo, under the leadership of Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, joined the celebration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month conducted at the Municipal Tennis Court in Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu.
‎
‎The event brought together members of the Indigenous People community and was led by Councilor Den-rasher Salim, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative, and Imam Faizal Dawami, Provincial Tribal Chieftain, Members of the sangguniang bayan, Punong Barangay Almaida Undug of Bus-Bus, Erich Q. Tan Executive assistant IV and Saali Haril, Municipal Social Welfare Officer of the Ministry of Social Services and Development–Jolo, along with other local officials and guests.
‎
‎As part of the celebration, rice assistance was provided to beneficiaries from Barangays Bus-Bus, Takut-Takut, and Tulay. The activities also included a raffle draw of 25 solar lights, a pangalay dance competition, swimming, tag-of-war, and volleyball.

‎CONSULTATION MEETING ON ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION, SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

‎The Municipal Government of Jolo, under the leadership of Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, Conducted a consultation meeting to discuss concern on cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and the beautification of the municipality.
‎
‎The meeting was attended by the Municipal Vice Mayor, member of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), the Sulu Provincial Women’s Council (SPWC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Chief of the Traffic Management Task Group (TMTG), Chief of Police, the Environmental Solid Waste Management Board (ESWMB) Committee, Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), department heads, representative from the Department of Education (DepEd), and other concerned stakeholders.

‎The discussion focused on current sanitation concern and ways to improve waste management, promote proper waste disposal, and maintain cleanliness throughout the municipality.

‎LOCAL GOVERNMENT CAPACITY ASSESSMENT FOR THE PHILIPPINE COMMUNITY RESILIENCE PROJECT (PCRP)

‎The Municipal Government of Jolo, under the leadership of Hon. Edsir Q. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Jolo, participated in the Local Government Unit (LGU) Capacity Assessment conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the KALAHI-CIDSS program on October 15–16, 2026.
‎
‎The meeting focused on assessing the municipality’s readiness and ability to carry out the Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP), which is set to begin in January 2027. It also aimed to identify the needs of the municipality and areas where more support and training may be needed.
‎
‎The activity was attended by the Municipal Vice Mayor, Sangguniang Bayan Councilors handling the Committee on Appropriation and Social Service, Municipal Department Heads, Municipal Local Government Operation Officer (MLGOO), and representatives from Non-Government Organization (NGOs) and People’s Organization (POs).
